JT!
Long stroy short: Taken my freewheel to bits to de-grease it, put it back together again. Tightend the lockring up, and the freewheel was locked solid. So i undid it a bit and the freewheel spun freely, tightend it a bit and the freewheel spun but the lockring went round with it, and then tightend and then locked up. Can anyone help? Cheers :- :S
Mark W
I can't remember from mine as I've never removed the bearings, but have you put the cartridge back in the right way round? If it wasn't seated properly it could be that the lockring fouls on it/it catches it and spins it round? In that nothing can actually f**k up the pawls/springs without you knowing about it ('cos they're pretty much untouchable), it must be either the driveshell not being aligned/put on properly or those bearings being wrong, I'd have thought... JT!
I'v never removed the bearings. How fixed is the bearing into the driveshell? Becuase i'm convinced it's too high up. It's the only thing i can think of that's causing the problem. :- Edited September 11, 2005 by JT! Lawnmowerman
Arent there meant to be some super skinny washers that go on before the lockring?
Hobnobs
I found there are two possible ways the outer shell can go onto the body, one of them it doesnt spin, one it does. Take it apart again, and try and get it so that it goes on properly.
JT!
Arent there meant to be some super skinny washers that go on before the lockring? ← Is there? Not only is it going round with the freewheel, but when it's at it's tightest, it still sits quite high up. I could probably easily add a spacer or something, but something wouldn't be right with it, as the lockring dosn't screw all the way down. I found there are two possible ways the outer shell can go onto the body, one of them it doesnt spin, one it does. Take it apart again, and try and get it so that it goes on properly. ← I'v taken it apart about 5 times now. Just can't think what wrong with it. Bionic Balls
have you put the ratchet on back to front....? There really can't be much wrong. press the bearing in a bit if you think it's moved.....a vice and headset cup works very nicely.. sending it to WI will very likely take ages....i'm sure you can solve it simply at home <_< good luck... adam

Besides i have to wait till i get my BB sorted anyway so might aswell get it done proporly.
Bionic Balls
That maybe so....but if they haven't got the part you need (like they didn't when i needed it), you could end up waiting a month..like me. Anyways...they are helpful <_< sideways right? adam
JT!
sideways right? ← I thems them. I think the bearings just come out of place, probably twat it back into place and send it back.
