cycletrials
how do fellas :S anyone got any pics of some gear shifter mods, meaning how to fasten them under the down tube in front of the seat tube, using either a grip shifter or a thumbshifter - preferably gripshifter please fellas :-" cheers ChRiS
fathopper
You dont put gears on a mod thats silly, for a start the mech would probaly hit the ground and slap around too much and there is mech hanger either
Mark W
Confused me at first too, but what he means is how to modify (hence mod) a shifter to fit on the downtube of a stock, if I've read it right. Anyway, you can put a mech on a mod, and have a multi-geared freewheel. Pashley made a 2-speed freewheel ages ago, and Eno have just made a better one now. That, coupled with a DMR horizontal drop-out mech hanger, and a shifter of your choice would mean you *could* put gears on a mod, although it'd be shite/get in the way. andyzplace
So, anyway, you can use zip ties / jubilee clips to keep it attatched or buy one of those really old thumb shifters and bend the clamp a little so it fits shug to your seat tube
