For All You Drummers..

Easy to impress non-musicians and beginners. But 'at the end of the day' (God, I hate that saying) they both bored the penis off me. What's the point? One-trick-pony comes to mind. Any one can learn to mimic, I doubt either of them will go on to write a trluy great peice of music. It's a bit like the kid who used do be able to do the most back hops but never really seemed to go on to do anything else...

Awsome drummer, if hes 20 ish now i'd love to see him do the same again to see how he has progressed.

Had that vid on my pc for quite some time now and is truly inspiring to watch.

I dont think unless your a drummer then you cant really appreciate it as much as ALOT of that is extremely hard.

Like trials I guess, the normal manual, backhop etc may not look much to a normal member of the public but let them try it and they'll find it near impossible.

That was mighty good and I am not normally impressed by things like that.

Side note: Go and listen to Dan Foord drum (sikth) Probably my favourite drummer of all time, his structure and timing is...frankly god like.

Indeed, thier bassist, James is also pretty awesome aswell. :-

Heard all their stuff and seen them live twice. I could do his job easily enough. I wouldn't describe myself as awesome. Just because people see a bassist play a little bit of slap they're suddenly awesome?..

They do have some interesting time signature changes in their songs though. However, rather than the changes being good or quirky, they are quite shit. Way to obvious and done for the sole purpose of them being obvious.

He's written some stuff on his site (Tony Royster Jnr., that is), and apparently it's pretty good. Also, his band's work is good too.

Shouldn't judge a book by it's cover/drummer by one noodling session (as much as you can noodle on drums).

He's a really accomplished musician but still by no way in the top 10 or even 50 drummers out there really. Nowadays he's a jazz clinician and really well respected. His dad was a drummer too funnily enough and he's been lucky to get the structure of practice from such a young age and learn lots of classic drum techniques which you can see in his playing.

For an example just go find Thomas Lang on Drummer world He's absolutely awesome.
