zanneslover
I'm new again to trials(Used to ride a few years back.) I was just wondering if people could explain the geometry terminology. I think I know what the wheel base is. Does the odd 5mm really make such a difference. Sorry if this has been asked before. I did search but couldn't find anything. And sorry again if this is a stupid question.
Luke Rainbird
-Depends where that 5mm is really. -5mm on the wheelbase (in my opinion) makes relatively no difference, wheras on the stays (bottom bracket to dropout) they can really alter how the bike handles. -Head angle is another factor which can greatly change the ride of a certain setup - too steep and steering will be twitchy, too slack and it will feel sluggish. -Bottom bracket hight can affect how the bike rides both normally and on the rear wheel, as your centre of gravity is moved around. -Top tube length can affect you, but most frames are ok as the different styles of seat tubes/head tubes etc. are varying and being accounted for
Simpson
Geometry is just how well the bike frame rides by changing different measurements on the bike, i.e. wheel base and different heights.
zanneslover
This probably sounds stupid but what is the BB measurement to and from. I've heard people saying it can be +/- whatever?
Tomm
This probably sounds stupid but what is the BB measurement to and from. I've heard people saying it can be +/- whatever? ← Draw a straight line between the axles. And then +/- from there (Y)
zanneslover
Ahh gotcha. Now I can see why that would make a difference thanks people.
