steve bain
basically the pedal thread has gone on the drive side. in about 10 rides!! maybe it was my fault, maybe it wasn't, but basically the face that the pedal tightens up against is now a nice big dent, allowing the pedal to wobble. i swear i checked it, but these things happen so i have two problems. how do i get the pedal out? as its threaded. is it repairable? and if not should i buy another set as i know you can get them for about £35, or does anyone have any good suggestions. i know these arms are renowned for this happening. money is tight so they must be less than £50. i only need the arms too, obviously. isis bb. how can i stop this happening again? cheers, steve edit: forgot to say, i use the middle ring so it can't be tiny ring specific. cheers, steve Edited September 7, 2005 by steve bain
andyzplace
hmmm. i assume you mean the threads are stripped? do you mean the dent is holing the pedal in? :( anyways, id say if you are looking at budget cranks then hussfelts are a good choice, plus if you get some new ones now then i'm pretty sure they come with pedal thread inserts that can be replaced if you do it again. if not then you could always look at getting a decent set of 2nd hand 3pc off ebay for under £50 (if your not too bothered about the extra weight)
steve bain
sorry, its really hard to explain, the thread is stripped, but still holding the pedals in, and it has hollow out around them a bit. whats the difference between 3 piece? i've just bought a brand new b/b so want to keep that really.steve
Mark W
I stripped the thread in my Muscleman cranks and couldn't get the pedal out. At least I couldn't 'til I rode it like that. IT comes out easy enough, just be careful or you'll end up unintentionally stamping your foot super hard when it comes out :ermm:
