Tux
Hey guys, I've had a quick search and I havn't really found an answer. I'm running an Avid SD7 on an XT lever for my front with a Ceramic rim. I've been using the Rim Wrangler 2 cartridge pads that came with the Avid so far, and I find them way too grabby they even stick once you release the lever. What i'm looking for is a pad with decent bite, but with good modulation so I can stoppie, front tap, etc. Currently i'm trying a Plaz CRV but, again, it's a bit eager. Any ideas? TIA
shovel
get some shimano ceramic specific pads, think they're a bit softer than usual so they don't wear down the rim coating too much but they give good modulation and sort of bite

Mark W
\/ Plaz V-Flies. You'd be a fool not to (Y) I'm running them on the back of my BMX, where I need a fair bit of modulation but still lockableness. They're working perfectly on a chrome rim, but I know they work pretty good on "normal" rims too. They're pretty sound pads, so might be worth a look? Alternatively, the Koolstop red or salmon V-pads aren't too bad, neither are Fibrax reds. Lastly, you could always buy some Heatsink V-pad backings and put something like Koolstop red Magura pads in there? Should work like a charm (Y)
Endohopper
Oh gosh , yes . I'm also running the pads shown above ( except packaged as Barradine ) and they are the best dammned upgrade to my brakeset ever . Lock up when needed , with controllable modulation for stoppies etc.

djb
Modulation means the brake doesn't always lock the instant you pull the lever, it allows you to vary (modulate) the brake power depending on how hard you are pulling. The amount of modulation can be varied by changing pads, levers, brakes and rim coating (ground, tar or ceramic). Hope that makes sense
