Running Your Bike With No Mech Or Tensioner

the q/r / funbolt go through the top part of the fresh one and then the bit where you can adjust the tension goes through the bit that yo usually thread the mech what ever in. so it makes it stupidly steady and near impossible to break. i used to break hangers by hitting them slightly and having to bend them back, and after a few times it made the hanger weak and just snapped.

but the frsh tensioner has completely stopped that, if you go through mech hangers like a basterd ginger i recommend getting one.

i will get a pic of mine on me bike tomorrow for you all to see as i havent got a bike for you to see it on at the moment (Y)

A pic would be nice, is your bike in for a service or something?

Anyway, cheers for all the advice guys, i just thought that noticable weight would be saved from losing my mech (fairly heavy, sora road) and shortening my chain to make up for it too. I wont bother then if its going to mean less safety and reliability.

Ill just go for a tensioner. (Y)

I got a quick problem if there is any help out there :P

I have a Surly tensioner but, it's too tight on the chain.

I can't do crankflips and pedaling is getting harder, it's not the spacec between my middleburns as i sanded them down..... A LOT! (Y)

Any info on how to correct this would be nice (Y)

Thanx Neil (Y)
