Joe_Elding
Hi, Ntl have offerred to upgrade my broadband from 330k :P" to 1mb but at the cost of only being allowed 3gb. Will this be enough. It is mine and my mums computer and its fairly old and rubbish ( so bad there isn't enough virtual memory to play videos) so all i use it for is t-f, Msn and checking train times. It says on the letter ''3gb a week is easily enough for the rest of our standard users and you can still surf the internet for 12 hours a day and send 600 emails a week'' Is it true. Will animated sites like t-f etc. use more bandwidth? And lastly, my computer gets switched on in the morning and only turned off at night. Due to it being broadband i never disconnect the internet. will leaving it on use bandwidth or is it only if you're actually using an internet feature? Thanks :)
Boothy
If you are connected all the time you have your computer on, you can only have your computer on for 12 hours per day, otherwise you will be charged extra if you go over probably. Have you thought about trying another ISP and shopping around for better deals?
Tomm
I would just stick to be honest, super speedy internet isn't really that amazing. I'd rather have bandwidth anyways. Although if you don't download anything, you might be ok with 3gb.

Yet. Who knows when they will change the system. Maybe they won't. BT do check though.
tipsy Jock
I don't think they have any way of enforcing it... Yet. Who knows when they will change the system. Maybe they won't. BT do check though. ← We got booted off our Tiscali connection at Uni, despite it being "unlimited" Apparently because of excessive usage lol. Although as soon as the dumbarses realised that we had in fact a business connection and not a private one they reconnected us. Did they tell us? No, Stop charging us, No? Idiots lol Anyways my pre rant point was yes they do sometimes enforce it. But for your purposes i don't think you will have any problems  Pete
Simon
I upgraded, i use waaaaaaaaaaay more than 3gb a month, and ntl dont seem to care  ← They did with me. I'm pretty sure me going over my usage is the reason they've throttled some of my ports. I won't get more then 10kb/sec on any torrents, from any site, using any program, on any of the major torrent ports. Sucks big time.
