munkee
Not that i've been a busy little beaver and researched in to this pad making game. But the backings need degreasing. Maybe the wrong degreaser is being used? something too strong, causing the pads to go brittle. Resulting in cracks and backings falling apart. SQuiT-man
Both of my rimjam blues went in the same way as the one in the first pic. Hopefully the new ones will be a lot better thought, they sound good from what I have heard (Y) Edited September 29, 2005 by SQuiT-man
nb88
Might be because steve uses old pad backings that riders send him to make the pads, so they could be really old pad backings?
Hobnobs
That was a powerpad backing, as are all his new pads.
nb88
That was a powerpad backing, as are all his new pads. Oh right, he uses brand new backings now then?
Mark W
That was a powerpad backing, as are all his new pads. Could still have been an old pad backing though. It might've just been a second-hand powerpad backing?

AdamR28
Maybe the wrong degreaser is being used? Another vote for the degreaser idea. I believe Steve now uses a different degreaser.
Ben Geary
my mate has just snapped the backing on some heatsink honigs, but he got a free set for nothing, but they are £6 so you can't complain really
munkee
but they are £6 so you can't complain really Unless some poor b*****d gets seriously injured or dies due to a backing failing. Safety should always be paramount regardless of price.
