Hi, thinking of changing brakes from maguras too shimano LX vees... I get the shimano pretty damn cheap so I`m consider buying it!

I`m using some zoo! pads on the rear brake right now, but I still finds my front vee with plaz pads grippier...

Any opinions about this choise?

Sondre

edit; I`m gonna use some plaz pads and shimano XT levers!

to start with the LX v might feel supurb, but then the pivots with develope play in them. it will start to feel mushy, and will not give the performance you need. you will also suffer from cable stretch.

If you want to try out a v on the rear, then i would say get one which doesnt have the pivot system on it.

A correctly set up V-Brake can match an HS33 for stopping power and modulation at a lighter weight . I'm currently running XT v's , but as suggested above by Fairy elephants , Shimano's parralel push linkage adds unneccesary complexity to the brakes , and their pivots tend to wear out fast .

I personnaly would get some plazmatic pads for your maggy, cause if you have a V, then you have alot more that could go wrong with it than a maggy!

It doesnt seam it, but there is!

Theres alot more moving parts on the V, and the magura has only got the pads and lever that moves!

And on V's the cable stretch's... guess what... maggys dont have cables! :D

I dont care what ANYONE says, i would NEVER use a V on the back.... i would only EVER use a maggy (Y)

yeh i have to agree, imagine if your cable snapped! and also maguras are better. they create more pressure on the rim, therefore better brakes

my vee brakes only moves at the lever and on the bearing of the vee brake - so its a pulley moving something on a bearing - seems pretty simple to me.

not really a problem if you buy a decent cable - and maggys can develope leaks

i have never had a cable snap on me and i have never ripped a cable out like people i know with maggies. As for pressure with both brakes if you don't pull the lever hard enough you are not gonna stop :D

Avoid parrallel push brakes spend your money on a half decent standard vee (try ebay) get something like a sd3/5

you could just try some different maggie pads though
