Well we are thinking of a comp in woking for some time next year-ish but the place we are thinking of using is always very busy and we need to book early. It should be sometime in the 06 easter holidays.

So. What would you prefer to see;

- a freestyle comp (runs of about 3 minutes with 3 or 4 riders at a time)

- A sectioned comp( probably about 10 sections with beginner,intermediate,advanced)

I would have thought a freestyle comp would be easier to set up. Simply beucase with a freestyle comp the riders need to be creative, not you.

deffo section courses for me.

I aint a fan of freestyle comps becuase of the variations in judges opinions. In a traditional comp, you know where you stand, you got a dab or two and you will agree with it (in most cases)

With freestyle comps, whos to say whats good or not, I know I am more impressed with different things to some of my friends and that really puts me off.

Although I did really enjoy the wales indoor comp.

Thats where i thought the freestyle course would be difficult to do. although it would be easier to set up you would need judges who new what they were talking about rather than a random mum/dad/girlfriend being able to say ''he put a foot down there'' or similar.

I'd have to say sectioned, i dont ride comps but i get put off easily by other people moving about, and judging a free style comp is hard because you'll see something good and mark it highly but then someone may come a blow you out of the water so..... you know

Sectioned courses are much easier to say who wins as they're measurable (timings), but I dont know if they're as fun because everyone will be aiming to win by going as fast as they can which tires people out. Also unless the courses are specifically designed, there's only going to be one route which will reduce originality which some riders today specialise in.

WHEREAS

A freestyle comp has no set way to win, and therefore can provide surprises and plenty of fun as you can't beat someone by doing their trick faster. At our freestyle comp, Tim Stedman won because he was trying insane moves and pulling them off (most of the time ;) ) Even though someone else did the hugest sidehop in the contest. Freestyle comps are a pain in the arse to determine winners though, as favortism can effect decisions even slightly...

Pro's and cons for both. All i can say is our freestyle competition was ACE! >_< (Y)
