spangler
Just wondering what everyone uses to keep there disk brake bolts tight? mine keep coming loose and they rounded off at the heads so i've got a new set of bolts and i want them to stick. i've used gloss paint on my grips and they never budged, but if there are any alternatives you guys know of like thread lock then great let me know.... p.s i cant find any shops online that sell thread lock they always seem to sell lube and stuff but never threadlock. spangler
I have now tried threadlock but they still come loose... I put the threadlock on the thread of the bolts tightened them all up properly and left it for three days.... Went riding, after a few Moves it's loose again. It comes loose when i pull my brake sharply to stop or when i do a hardish front touch. the thread is fine all round, they just keep working loose though. I think it's because i am fat :P HELP!
shovel
i work in a workshop and most disk brake bolts come with that dry threadlock stuff already on them but we just put grease on the threads, tighten them up and they seem to be fine, never have problems with them coming loose even on dh bikes etc make sure when you tighten the bolts you don't just go round all them in a row but you alternate and tighten bolts across from each other if that fails, it could be that the threads are damaged and you might have to try a little plumbers tape around the thread of the bolt

spangler
Well i had another go last night at using the threadlock. I did every other one with threadlock and the rest with gloss paint. I put it on a about 6pm You reckon it will be dry the threadlock says it drys in moments and the gloss paint says 16-24hours Edited September 4, 2005 by spangler
