Luke Rainbird
Mock just 'cause it's almost as if you're taking the piss... :o" Isn't Mod short for modified - as in modified to be trials specific ,and stock was just because most bikes were 26" being more readily available as the general 'stock'? Doubt that made sense, but ah well! Just come home from a nice boarding session so I'm wet and knackered and can't be bothered to try and explain further! I'm gonna crash out and eat lots :ermm:

Al_Fel
I know! Why don't you call them 24"'s? ← 20" = Mod 24" = ??? 26" = Stock can you see the missing link?

Pork Pie
Shit bmx, cos the uci one is just some shitty tag along. ← ShitUCI© or ShitBMX© ? ShitBMX isn't a type of bike by the way, how insulting (Y)" It's a way of riding, a craze, one of the biggest things to hit the world of trials, well, ever! Involving major tuckage on the smallest of sidehops, proper trials on 24", Street on Long bikes, Zebdi's being used on the coolest of 180 hop off pavement things, and so on. Proper definition to come soon. Edited August 28, 2005 by Pork Pie

Steve-A
The best way to describe 24" is AWESOME. Its as simple as that. On a less serious note, I think they should be covered under the "mod" boundary, as they are not standard mountain bikes with a few modificationd for trials, but are bikes fully designed for trials use, and modified to suit. Tony Harrison
ShitUCI© or ShitBMX© ? ← Nah, that's people desparately trying to shoehorn 24" trials bikes into an existing category. It's trials for people who value a fun ride more than a 52" tap.
Badboy
i rekon mod and stock may stand for something in japanese or sumit????maybe thats where they get the names from? i dont know like but just maybe............ Waynio...................... ← Isn't Mod short for modified - as in modified to be trials specific ,and stock was just because most bikes were 26" being more readily available as the general 'stock'?← Nail on the head (Y) The definitions are american Mod= modified for the purpose i.e. 20" Stock="off the peg" mtb
biketrialler
Yeah i'll fill it in. 20" = Mod 24" = 24 Inch 26" = Stock ← I hate to point out how stupid that post makes you look but... (Y)"
Brian Bleech
Nail on the head (Y) The definitions are american Mod= modified for the purpose i.e. 20" Stock="off the peg" mtb ← yeah but those definitions when people just rode trials on standard mtb's, nowadays all trials bike could be called mods.. joe b
24" is a mod. As it is a 'modified' bike. Hence where mod gets its name from. Where as 26" is a stock because you could just have any old mountain bike with the right parts to ride it. (Y) Cheers, Joe.
Davetrials
Surley an old mountain would have to me MODIFIED to make it in to a trials bike.
Tim Stedman
Surley an old mountain would have to me MODIFIED to make it in to a trials bike. ← Not necesarilly, when I was first riding trials, I rode on a standard mountain bike, and used my outer chainring as a bashguard! No modifications at all!
Ali C
tims right, I did a years worth of comps on a standard xc bike, cantilever brakes, triple chainrings, 130mm flat stem and 22" flat bars. It also had 1.95" tyres front and back. still came 3rd overall at the end of the year (Y) I wanna call 24" a stock as I dont like mods
PaRtZ
So whats the situation with 24" at competitions then? A new category for themselves? (Y)
