nafan
Firstly... I run single speed and luckily my chain is just the right length to not slap the chainstay... I have a 22 tooth chainring, and an 18 tooth sprocket at the back. I was wondering whether anyone rides a ratio smaller than that, because for pedal hopping etc mine seems slightly tough Also... There was a topic on one finger braking a little while ago and I was wondering whether all you one-finger brakers use the middle, or fore finger... Feedback much appreciated, thanks a lot... Nathan

koxx-boxx
Hi yer i use 22/18 and i find it too light, but some people do use 22/19 and it is aparently good. Most people use there index finger for breaking because it has more control and it easyist.
nafan
Cheers lads.. The only problem with having 22-19 is I'd have to piss about with my chain length again lol - GRRRRR
JT!
One fingure, the index fingure. The one you pick your nose with.

shovel
i use my index finger for one finger braking for the front and rear brake as for gear ratios, i run 22:19 and it seems fine, but i do run six speed on my bike so i do have the choice of a stiffer gear for larger gaps etc. if your bike has normal dropouts it isn't a very good idea to run no chain tensioner, surly singulators aren't that expensive, or you could just use your old mech and tighten the high limit screw until it sits in place i think that an old mech is probably more reliable as its probably a bit stronger than a single speed tensioner

nmt_oli
I use my index / fisrt finger for braking. always have, always will. If you use your middle finger you risk sqaushing your index finger if your brake levers travel that far! I think my gear ratio is a bit high atm, 22:15 will try 16 or 17 for a bit when i can be bothered to get my wheel off, lol. :)" keep finding myself kicking the bike out from under me causee its geared to high! my back hurt for weeks after that!
