JT!
Oh right, because i sidehop to the right as well and people say thats wrong, its kinda the same thing isnt it. ← The thing is with 180ing and sidehopping is that they can be done both ways becuase the 'correct' way to do it is away from the pedal you have forward. But when you push down on that pedal your body is more comfortable going that way. So it's riders choice. Try doing a 180 on your back wheel first without the back wheel leaving the ground. Then you have all your concentration on getting round rather than taking off and landing. Edited August 26, 2005 by JT!

Its how you do it and if you feel comfortable doing it. ← Yeah but i didnt feel comfortable about doing it how i do it cos' i thought everyone kicked whilst they did it but i dont. Is it easier to kick?
Smo™
It's a hell of a lot easier to kick, there's no drag from the tyres.
TheCircus
I can't 180 if I kick the pedals. How I learnt is by not having a front brake. Find some loose small stones, like a driveway or something, and learn to 180 endo....while rolling, doesn't matter if you don't make it as the stones will let your wheel skid and not buckle. Once I could get these most of the way round I then progressed to doing 180's from a flat bunnyhop on the stones, try not to worry too much if you find it hard to get out of them, as long as you can muscle your bike round most of the spin. Try to really prewind for the trick and roll in an S shape before doing it, I find it gives me a little more momentum for the spin. Once you have pretty much got this, I found a small slope from a flat and 180'd down this, the drop will give you that little extra you need to land perfectly backwards, your wheel should automatically turn to let you fakie out the way of the spin. Once you can do these then flat ground await. This way (In my opinion) looks the best way to do 180's when pedaling round a 180 it looks forced and takes away from the fluidity of such a smooth and flowing trick. To try Steve-A style 180 to backwards manual 180 out's it requires a different technique to this which will be slightly harder to learn, you must sort of manual into the trick and take away the swinging of the trick, the more vertical your bike is, the faster the spin will end, as you spin in the air try to land with your backwheel a bit below the balance point and your legs bent and ready to pedal backwards. The momentum of the spin will keep the bike spinning on the backwheel, the hardest part will be to pedal backwards while doing so and takes alot of practice, once you have spun around 90degree of the outing of the trick, you must quickly kick the pedals, which keeps the front end up and the manual going. Hope you found this helpful.
Trebor
What kind of 180 do you mean? Static 180? I.e. 180 on the spot 180 Sidehop/Up.? Where you'll go to the side and land front wheel first to bring round the rest of the bike. Rolling 180?

zoojames
I found one day I could just do it, I seem to spin a bit over 180 though... I found the best way was compress slightly, kick as if you were going to pedal hop onto the back wheel but pull up and left/right with your bars spinning your body then flicking your hips round and this should finish of your spin and you'll be facing the other way! Just keep trying, I started of doing 90 spins but when you land because of the exess force you will slip to the side so then you start flicking more with your hips and you'll get better and better! Just remember, compress, spin, flick! Simple  Hope that helped! James
Brian Bleech
you weigh more than your bike - so just use your body weight/movement and a punch on the pedals and your bike will follow mike oh yeah - and if you are doing static ones and using a stamp on the pedals - spin the way of forward/good/choc foot Edited August 27, 2005 by leedstrials
Stanners
i manage to do it without pedal kickin in it. just think about the momentum u need to get to get round.....it mite be abit like doin a rollin one in the way u have to keep your hips straight and turn your head in to the direction u want to go in while throwin your weight round....blah blah blah :o
Luke Drewery
Hey, nice to see you like my poo little clip lol. I can do 180's without a kick, but i find it much easier with a tiny little kick in it as it flicks me round quicker than if i do it without. I have my left foot forward and sidehop to the left as well as spin and hop, kind of different from the norm but i still get the move done, what difference does it make? None to me anyway. steve sturt
I do 180s with the kick but only use it to keep the bike central. Without the kick the bike tends to move backwards. I.e if you were bridging a gap and 180ed without the kick, the bike would fall down the hole in the middle. With the kick, the bike would end up facing the other way round again bridging the gap. Dan6061
try staying in one spot Centre your balance Start leaning to the left as you pull up the bars, leaning inwards (left) As you lifting the bars, turn them to the direction you want to go (left) Push the bars forward, pull up with your feet I think thats how I do it, I din't think about it when i'm doing it though.. I'll geta short clip of me doing it tomorrow if it'll help  EDIT: Typos.. :"> Edited August 30, 2005 by Dan6061
Clownbike
I do the streety bunny hop 180's. Just lift up and follow round. I tried on on my new bike ( without a rear brake as the mounts havn't come  ) and i rolled my ankle, so just don't do 180's without a rear brake to catch you on an unfamiliar bike! Not gonna be able to ride it for like 3 weeks + Good luck  Neil
Davetrials
Static are harder than rolling 180s I find the pedal kick does helP Practise on a curb, spin the front end of bike 90 put your front wheel on the curb and un weight the back end on to the curb Repeat this and build up speed eventually youll start to get it and start to thow your bike a bit more violently thus creating
