Disk Vs V

Right, at the moment I'm running an Avid SD7 with an XTR lever, and it's poop, It basically needs a clean and it will be ok again, but i was riding my mates bike the other day and his disk was supurb.

I'm concidering getting a magura louise, but to do so I would have to send my forks back to leeson to have a mount welded on.

My other option would be to grind my rim, and get some heatsink V pads to go with my current set-up, has anybody tried this on the front? does it work well?

Also, with the disk, if thats what is advised, what is the most popular at the moment? my friend lousie feels better than any other disks i have felt, but am open to ideas of a similar price.

Cheers, Alex.

Hope mono trial, but that's only cos I got one . But in my experience most disks will piss on V's (yeah, i've had well set up decent V's).

Hope trial if you're rich.

Any other decent hydro like maguras louise, marta and avid juicy seven if you think hope over prices everything.

Or get an avid BB5 ou BB7 or whatever they call them if you're skint / can't be arsed with hydraulics and crap.

edit: I spell like a cat walking on a keyboard.

righty a v upfront with sum plaz crvs/heatsinks will be killer, with a grind itll be silly good and ull rarely have to clean it if my rear brake is anything to go by.....

however the modulation will be, well, non existent....

personally id get a decent disc upfront, hope mini(old), avid bb7 are both feckin ace brakes, im about to try the avid juicy, see how it goes.....

i advise a disc purely cos they are damn powerful and the modulation is good, but the trouble is your disc mount dilema, if you have the money do it, otherwise grind+decent pads will keep you very happy anyway-you will get used to it

Do you need the extra modulation? That's the main question.

Alex have a go on my rex, I've got a louise aint I  Give it a ying!

If you talk to Sam (Southtrials one) he will say Juicy 7 due to the fact you can change the lever feel etc and his cable one blew up...3 times... so yeah give them both a go! I got my driving test on friday so if I pass we can ride pomp one weekend and I'll let you give it a go!

chrome your rim :P

Where would i go to get my rim chromed? and what would i do when they put a river section in a comp? (Y)"

Alot of people seem to be pushing towards the avid juicy 7, which i think i may well look into after i have paid off my car insurance, for now maybe the heatsink pads will have to be purchaced.

Cheers for all the help people.
