Tony Harrison
Being that I live in a city centre a car isn't essential, but would be helpful for getting to other places to ride, etc. I've been given a 1.1 litre Fiesta, but to make it worthwhile I've decided the insurance premium (TPFT) must be £600 of less. As I'm 23 and have been driving for 4 years with no previous claims (but no 'no claims' either - never had my own insurance policy before) I don't think this is too unrealistic. My best quote is £390 for my parents address, but at my address it is £690 (that's with Tesco) because it is a 'higher risk area'. Can't really get away with lying and saying I keep the car at my parents, so I will inevitably have to pay the higher price. So... Any ideas where else I could get a quote? I've tried CIS, AA and Norwich Union (they didn't quote me happy). Thanks.

Michael Hardman
Do you know anyone that works in Sinsburys, becaue get them to sort you out insurance in your name and they can get 15% discount like I did for my brothers insurance. zoojames
If its on your own then try Liverpool Victoria, Mines £1300 on a 1.2 Fiesta as a 17 year old with no claims (duh) so not too bad! It was the cheapest quote I found from a 100% safe insurer. James

Aldred_85
Last year was my first year driving. CIS was cheapest, at £1100 odd for a group 2 car, went to a group 3 car only increased by £50. After 1st years driving hassle free, I expected my 'Big Drop'. Only to find that they took off about £150, so around about £900.. great! After some hunting I found Norwich Union to be cheapest at £670, Thats for a group 6 car :P , with 'non-mfr alloys' :P , and three points :P . (20yr old, TPFT, Licence - 1yr, 1yr NCD) So Norwich Union did well and truely 'Quote you happy'.
Heatsink
Tescos and Elephant have been my choice for best value insurer in the last couple of years. I'm paying around £400 for a 1.3L '96 Fiesta, and I now have full no claims, wrangled because we transferred both cars to Elephant and they let me share Tracy's no claims status as a lure. Just working out what car to get next because the Fiesta's failed the MOT, has done over 100k, and has a catalog of bits on the way out once the corroded fuel pipes have been replaced to get through the test!
