Taps For A Beginner

After 2 years, I've never actually even tried taps :"> Ok I'm after a few tips and pointers. At the mo I can backwheel about 32" max obviously without a tap. So do I just push that to 3 foot and slam my front wheel in to it? Let it bounce over? Push hard into the bars? Lean forwards? lean back? Just don't know, and I think that its about time that I learnt them properly.

I found that for tapping to both wheels, you can really push forwards on the bars and push into and through the wall.

But for tapping to rear, you have to go into then up the face of the wall to shoot you out more vertical...

This'd be way easier to explain if i had a bike, and you, infront of me (Y)

you know when you got to 2 wheels soem times and just skim the front wheel on the way up and the way it makes you go up easyer, well thats what you wanna aim for just glance the front wheel to start with then you will get it

Tapping is fun. Just aim to start with, to hit the front tire just below the top. To get to both tires, just push out with your arms. To get to back wheel, start the pedal stroke slightly later than to go to both tires, and push your arms upwards. It takes so much less effort than a wheely hop, and once learnt is loads more consistent. It doesnt work too well on anything less than 30" as the bike isnt very steep. Once you got it down on a lowish wall, its just a case of to go higher, tap lower. Watch Vincent Hermance, TRA or Evolve.

tapping is all about your preference... start on a low wall... and just brush it up the corner.... and get lower lower... make sure the wall isnt too small or you will find it pretty pointless to tap a 10 inch wall... its all about confidence in yourself......

tapping is the way forward (Y) you knows iiit
