downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Hi people, im getting a front disk wheel for my mod in a few days (hopfully) time, and my mate has gave me a front C2 disk brake, just wondering if its any good? Its the number 5 caliper, i think :P :) What does this mean? I put the caliper on the mounts on the forks with my non disk wheel in, and it rubbed on the spokes WAY too much that the wheel wouldnt spin!! Just wondering if it will be like this when my disk wheel arrives? Its better hadnt run!!! :) :) :D (N)
Urpedigreechumdog
It's a non disc wheel so it's gonna rub on the caliper, have you noticed how disc and non disc wheels are built? Your disc wheel will have a disc mount, which you bolt a disc to.... The disc mount on the hub wil provide enough clearance for the caliper not to rub on the spokes anyway. I put the caliper on the mounts on the forks with my non disk wheel in, and it rubbed on the spokes WAY too much that the wheel wouldnt spin!! /\ /\ That is probably the most retarded thing i have heard in a while too :P If it is a non disc wheel, ie non disc hub, then what do you expect? Mark W
What he's trying to say :) A non-disc hub can be built wider between the flanges. This means the triangle of the rim, spoke and hub can be stronger. Anyroads, with a disc hub, this isn't the case. The flanges are made closer together so you can fit a disc on there. Because of this, the spokes are nearer the centre of the wheel, so you're good :P Don't worry about it, it'll be dandy :)
shovel
hope c2 brakes are alright, its a closed system so the lever travel can be adjusted like with a magura but with all closed hope systems they get really pumped up when your using them. but yeah they've got pretty good power and since they're hope you can pretty much re-build the brake if anything goes wrong
Tony Harrison
I really liked my C2. You can adjust it to exactly where you want it.
Mr Motivator
Wheel wont spin because; First one is non disk hub, 2nd is disk hub. C2 are pretty good btw.

The Dude
back to the topic, C2s are awesome, theyve got power, modulation and bite when you need it. ive had mone for 3 years, and its still running strong. no. 5 caliper means that its a 160mm disc, the lower the number the bigger the disc is. I mean VERY old, the one where if you loosen the bolt that holds the lever on the handle bars, the piston on the lever spins round and falls off the lever! :P :S :P Haha, its popped out a fair few times when riding some single track :) B) :- Edited August 18, 2005 by terror-error
matthewholdsworth
hope have just stopped making new C2s becuase demand is now for the open systems but dont worry spare parts will be available for pretty much ever! used to have one it was awesome, levers are a tad fragile but have a good feel and the pivot is in a nice place.
