Are C2 Disk Brakes Any Good?

Recommended Posts

Hi people, im getting a front disk wheel for my mod in a few days (hopfully) time, and my mate has gave me a front C2 disk brake, just wondering if its any good?

Its the number 5 caliper, i think :P :)

What does this mean?

I put the caliper on the mounts on the forks with my non disk wheel in, and it rubbed on the spokes WAY too much that the wheel wouldnt spin!!

Just wondering if it will be like this when my disk wheel arrives?

Its better hadnt run!!! :) :) :D (N)

It's a non disc wheel so it's gonna rub on the caliper, have you noticed how disc and non disc wheels are built?

Your disc wheel will have a disc mount, which you bolt a disc to.... The disc mount on the hub wil provide enough clearance for the caliper not to rub on the spokes anyway.

/\ /\ That is probably the most retarded thing i have heard in a while too :P

If it is a non disc wheel, ie non disc hub, then what do you expect?

What he's trying to say :)

A non-disc hub can be built wider between the flanges. This means the triangle of the rim, spoke and hub can be stronger. Anyroads, with a disc hub, this isn't the case. The flanges are made closer together so you can fit a disc on there. Because of this, the spokes are nearer the centre of the wheel, so you're good :P

Don't worry about it, it'll be dandy :)

hope c2 brakes are alright, its a closed system so the lever travel can be adjusted like with a magura but with all closed hope systems they get really pumped up when your using them. but yeah they've got pretty good power and since they're hope you can pretty much re-build the brake if anything goes wrong

back to the topic, C2s are awesome, theyve got power, modulation and bite when you need it.

ive had mone for 3 years, and its still running strong.

no. 5 caliper means that its a 160mm disc, the lower the number the bigger the disc is.

cool, cheers :P

I also have a C2 No.3 brake on my jump bike... its awsome!! lol, but its the one with the REALLY old lever!

I mean VERY old, the one where if you loosen the bolt that holds the lever on the handle bars, the piston on the lever spins round and falls off the lever! :P :S :P

Haha, its popped out a fair few times when riding some single track :) B) :-

hope have just stopped making new C2s becuase demand is now for the open systems but dont worry spare parts will be available for pretty much ever!

used to have one it was awesome, levers are a tad fragile but have a good feel and the pivot is in a nice place.

My lever seams to squeek quite abit :) B) :-

and it feel very nice, but you have to pull it with 2 fingers cause it isnt bedded in yet and slips... ALOT!! lol

cant wait to get it on my onza like... gonna be fooooooking awsome!!!

c2 is a rather powerful brake just bit heavy then the new hopes, and lets face it your never gonna get pump doing trials

c2 has more than enought power for the rear  :)

you having a laugh right, try and ride natural for 10 mins with a c2, not very fun. they heat up in like a minute. good brake but nothing amazing really
