Local Trials Course/comps

Hi people,

Me and my friend Tom are trying to persuade our council to build a trials park near us (Newcastle-Under-Lyme) or at least give us some land, we have a possible sponsor so we would be able to get hold of pallets etc to ride on and we were just wondering wether anybody on here would be up for riding it if we were able to get one maybe even run compotitions to pay for the insurance.

We are posting this to find out who and how many would be interested, to help towards putting this idea forward to the council so all comments are welcome.

If you would like to give ideas that will help us get the park built then either post on here or add trials_king_2004@hotmail.com (Tom Brackenbury.) or tomtrials@hotmail.com (my addy.) and talk to us on msn. :)

cheers,

ToM :)

that would be kool.

you may need to get a petition going.........

iv found some really nice land near me that im going to look into. also its indoor and its very remote and not many people or things happen their parking and the lot. old offices and iv looked inside, (could actually get into it through one of the massive side vents but aint tried yet) but would be the most radical trials spot going me thinks.

Waynio.....................

Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate, but this is a lot harder to do than you think.

The council will not let you use the land with pallets and stuff, as they are not fixed, and are considered unsafe. If the council help you, it will only be for a park made of concrete, etc. and will also have lots of rules, and will probably become boring as you improve.

A better idea would be to find someone who owns land, other than the council, and ask them, as they are not obligated by as many rules and regulations. They may offer you their land to use, on the condition that it is kept tidy and you all sign disclaimers that you will not sue if you injure yourselves, etc.

Well done for trying though, and I hope you are successful in finsing someone and sorting out comps and stuff.

Yeah, we found some land and asked if we could take our own stuff on there like pallets, esc but the council said they were a health risk and wouldnt get any useable stuff for us :)

Is this "Newcastle under lyme" the same newcastle i know near Durham, Chester and gateshed because if so i would defo come ride and enter comps and i have bout 5 mates that would do the same.

Kieron :shifty:

Nah kieron mate, that's Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Me and some of my mates have been trying to get a trials spot round here since about November 2003. We have attended god knows how many meetings concerning the area and what could be done to improve fitness in the area, council meetings for our village community, and held meetings every week to talk to someone who offered to show us which way to go about hopefully getting an area in the region. He, however, doesn't seem to be bothered anymore, and has stopped showing up for the meetings, so it's all kind of fizzled out.

This is just to give you an Idea of the time scale, it isn't a short term type of thing.

Yeah it is quite rad, its like a mahoooooosive warehouse kinda thing with some old abandoned offices attached, but like wayne said you could EASILY get a BIG trials park, BIG skatepark and BIG dirt jumps inside, the roof's really high too so jumps ect would be cool, used to be some old factory so theres loads of other buildings around it but this is by far the biggest, it would be ace if we could get it sorted, something to look into eh wayne :P

this is smithy, a stoke/newcastle local. we had a commity set up with 'castle council for 2 years, fully designed trials park with sponsors, petitions, the works. then they suddenly scrapped the idea when they quoted us over half a million quid for the insurance of the park. they can do skateparks easy, because the ramps etc. are off the shelf items that are safety and quality approved to legislated standards. only way you can do trials park is on private land with full liability and insurance (or you have to have somebody managing the park to make sure riders sign contracts sayin they ride at their own risk etc.)

i know some parks have been done before, but our experience turned into a big disappointment, and a lot of wasted time and effort

besty o luck and let us know how you get on
