JT!
I would never, ever, ride a mod without tensioners. Buy some, they are dirt cheap.
Chicky
jesus christ just buy a f**kin tensioner and stop being awkward. ← whoa, someone needs to calm down. Ever thought i might be hard on cash? After buying a T-pro being advertised as 'mint' you dont expect to have to buy stuff for it. And living alone at the age of 17 doesnt exactly leave much spare cash. christ.

The bike isn't really 'complete' without the chain tensioners, they should have been provided..

danny B
join the chain fully i don't trust split links and just get some tensioners even bmx ones work they are only bout three quid. (Y)
will4eva7k
it wasnt a split link - the kmc kool chain - where its goldish on the outer 'plate' its black on the inner - well that ripped i got some pics, its awesome
danny B
Got you now and i did one of those ones before bet that hurt a fair bit lol how long had you had the chain on for?
Will Arnold
i've always used the supplied chainlink, i wouldnt trust a chain join (Y)
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
i've always used the supplied chainlink, i wouldnt trust a chain join (Y) ← So you would rather use a link that could fal off your chain than rather use a full chain?
JIX
If you use the split link then it is just as strong as the rest of the chain. The kool chain split link is well designed. It has pins the same as the chain and a rather thick plate that takes all the stress. The problem is when you keep taking off the clip to undo the chain and then use it again. That is going to weaken the clip and thats why they can fall off. If you take the split link off then get a new clip every time you rejoin it, then you wont have a problem. If you join the chain using your chain tool, then it will never be as strong as the normal links, and not as strong as the split link. danny B
Actually i see what you mean there after having a good look at it and come to think of it Slinger always runs a split link.
Ali C
I join my chain, but I paint the link I did so I always undo the same one, saves the other links from being weakened.

Towler
Get a Profile :D then you dont need tensioners and you have an awesome hub (Y)
danny B
i did that , but the tipex wore off , and i lost track of it . ← i might use something like a permanent marker and just monitor it then.
AdamR28
I join my chain, but I paint the link I did so I always undo the same one, saves the other links from being weakened. ← Or you could see it the other way, that continuously pushing a pin through a hole it doesnt wanna go through will keep making ithe hole bigger and bigger, and therefore weakening your chain even more. Chicky
Well i got some shitty bmx tensioners for £6. They hardly fit my frame but i think i've got them sorted, the chains tight anyway. I'll see how they ride next time i go out, it's too hot now.
