steve bain
ok, so i've decided my brakes were very badly bled. however my lbs want £15 to do it!!! (that'll be a no then) so has anyone ever made there own kit? as £20 for a few plastic pipes and a syringe seems crazy! it only seems to be the nipples that would be difficult to get hold of or make. any ideas? and no comments about being a cheapskate, i can't help it. steve ps. go on mousebreaker.com and play the bmx games, there greatly addictive!! Tony Harrison
You will need: A plastic syringe (10ml - 25ml) - can probably buy in a chemists A small bit of plastic tubing to attach to it An old Magura cross-over pipe Some oil (Mineral brake fluid, Halfords, 7 quid a litre, green bottle or cap) You need to cut the cross-over in half, and attach it to the syringe using the plastic tubing. The cross-over, at one end, should have the threaded barb so you can screw it into the caliper to bleed. So, for about 10 quid you get your own kit that'll do countless bleeds. steve bain
good plan, but is the barbed nipple used for bleeding the same as the main barbed nipples used for the brake hoses as you can buy them for like a quid, then use windscreen wiper jet piping for the hose? they look a diiferent size on mine. cheers, steve
Siders77
I would just get the Bleed Kit mate. It's worth it in my opinion. You get loads with it. -Loads of spare hose. -Olives. -Barbs. -New seals. -Mineral oil. -Hose clamp (For clamping the hose when fitting new barbed fittings) VERY handy. :P
rich4130
Just buy a barb connector thing from CRC and find/buy the rest, a piece of tubing isn't hard tio find, nor is the syringe, and the oil is a waste of money..
