steve bain
hey all, should be a quick one this. bought a secondhand magura which was bled. however a few of my mates say it isn't done properly. when the brake engages and the wheel won't move i can still pull the brake lever a good inch. is this bad? its killing my knuckles!! if i do need to bleed it can i make a kit rather than buying one, it seems to only be the bleed nipples that may be hard to get hold of. cheers, steve
minitrialer
i dont THINK that would be air as its normally a delay before you pull the brake not after...is it flex in the frame? If not ,sorry i don't know.Bloody maguras , get a vee brake, probably much better when set up correctly. dave85
If when you pull the lever, you can see the back end of the bike flexing, then the bleed is okay. Try just pulling the lever gently with all the TPA wound off, if the lever moves a little before the pads start then it is the bleed (Y)
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Re-bleed it with de-ironised water. Way better (VERY fast) and it shounds like you have shiohot loads of air in your brake (Y)
Koxx_TryAll
Check it. Then bung it in the bath.. Take the bleed bolts out and get it bled with water. Chears
Rob_P
Well......for a start maguras are much much better then V-ees when bled properly and have the right booster and pads!! Well it either sounds like frame flex, pads not set up square to the rim or a rubbish bleed! Your best bet is to see if you can find a bleed kit off a mate or ask to borrow a local bike shops if they'll let you and bleed it! Also make sure when you bleed it the TPA is in, I think its in anyway, well just sit on the bike and screw it till it goes all loose and feels like its full of air. Make sure the pads are set up square to the rim as well cus if there at an angle the pad will compress and make it all spongy!
