plainlazy84
Was just toying with the idea of buying a home brewing kit from Easybrew.co.uk with my house mate cant_ride for uni in September. The basic equipment costs about £60 and then its £7 for ingreedients to produce 21 pints worth of Lager thats roughly 30p per pint (Y) ) I know there is a good chance we would cock it up and it would taste like pish flavoured dish water, but its for the fun of it as much as anything. And if we do manage to make a tasty brew then its cheap booze all round! has anyone bought this kind of kit? anyone who has tried this let me know how it went and how the final product tasted! So yeah.. that will be all. Cheers
tomturd
My mate did one... named it Gypsy Slag. 'Nuff said.. (Y) (saying that, yours might turn out better..)
RicH_87
my dad does it. he's got 3 massive round taps in the garage, and he drinks the stuff non stop. hardly ever buys canned beer at-all. i've only tried it once and that was a while ago, but it wasn't too bad. He's been doing it for years though so he's had time to tweak it. (Y)
munkee
i bought a kit from marks and spencers. Lets just say... it was bollox. The slurry at the bottom tasted better. But was fun trying it out .. hmm i might buy another. All i can say is good luck its really hit or miss whether its gonna taste good. Some guy that worked for my dad was obsessed with the kits and his tasted damn nice back in the day.
Mr Motivator
I tried it with a 5L water bottle, a lump of blue tack and a few bendy straws. It made my airing cupboard stink and I put too much sugar in so it just turned to.. rum (Y) which is rough. Sam :- edit: that was trying to make cider with apples btw Edited August 1, 2005 by Sam@SouthTrials
Heatsink
In our Uni house we tried some home brewing too. It also tasted disgusting but was rather high in alcohol content/we were student lightweights, and so a good time was still had by all, although lots of excuses were found in the high jinks to spill a good deal of it to avoid having to actually drink it! Bionic Balls
I'd try wine first if i were you..... I did it a while ago and it tasted vaguely OK.. (Y) Beer making looks a bit complicated (Y) . Wine is far simpler :P adam

haydon_peter
According to the site they are based at: EasyBrew 133a Southampton Road, Ringwood, Hampshire, BH24 1HT Some of the top notch local pub brews around the area (including Salisbury of cousre) are made in Ringwood Brewery, it doesnt look like this easy brew place is related in any way but I thought I would post anyway (Y) There are also some top notch brews made just down the road in The Hop Back Brewery based in Downton. I have a feeling that some of the hop back brews are available around the country aswell... I say you should go for it Dave! Split the costs between all your house mates and see how it goes, it might all go wrong but at least you will have tried! EDIT: Shite you can also get spirit making kits! £19.50 for a kit + ingredients to make 120 shots of flavoured Vodka!!!

Alexx
When I was visiting my Auntie in france a few days ago they have home brewed / made everything, from the farmers next door, all kinds of wines and random spirits. One thing they gave me to try was 'l'eau de la vie' (Water of life). Made from pears. It's clear, has near no smell, and is around the 95% mark (Y). I couldn't even drink half a shot of it, It felt like my stomach and insides were physically burning up. If you can find out how to make that try it, because it's f**king fire water....
