Big Helmet And Loctite

My crank was creaking, so i put some grease on the BB and Crank. That sorted the noise, but then I noticed that my ACS Claw freewheel was coming loose (shock!). So I did a search about it and Loctite seems to be the way forward, but which Loctite do i get? There seems to be a lot of different options. Which ones have people had good/bad experiences with?

My other question is about helmets. Most helmets seem a bit small for my rather large head. Anyone know of any larger-than-most helmets? I Like the look of the Giro Semi MX. Know anything about that?

Thanks in advance! :shifty:

Regarding the helmet, go to a large bikeshop and try on as many helmets as possible, some makes and styles come up bigger than others, try as many as possible.

Try both 'piss pot' style ones, and also standard XC oriented ones.

Even if you don't like the look of a helmet, try it on at least just to get an idea for what size you might need. Every company has a different average head size they make helmets for, so they'll all fit different even if one's Met's 58-62cm and the Giro one's 58-62cm or whatever. But yeah, just try stuff on. DON'T BUY ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T FIT!

Regarding the ACS Claw, Locktite Threadlock would work. Alternatively, ANY glue will work - it just needs to basically sit in the threads and provide something to stop the lockring from being shaken free from vibrations and from the small amount of force that the rotation of the freewheel will exert. Even putting some paint around the edge of lockring near the threads and onto the threads of the main part of the freewheel. It just provides some resistance so it should be sorted then :shifty:

Make sure you clean all grease/lube from the threads pre-glueing :D
