Bigman
After removing my disc rotor today, and giving the arms a quick go over with some wet and dry, i noticed some little cracks, there are 3 like this one all around the rotor, i know i do alot of front wheel moves, but surely a rotor should not crack like this, perhaps the rotor is slightly to thin in these places, as all the cracks are in similar spots on the holes around the rotor. I am going to ring Hope first thing tomorow, as i think because they are such an awsome company they may replace it for free (well, hopping) Adam
Danny
I think hope had this problem with the 'lightening' M4 rotors. If you get in touch with them im sure they will sort you out :shifty:
Waynio
just send it back to them and they will send you a new one FOC!!!! Waynio.................. i havent had it happen to one of mine yet but when looking at them the discs are really thin with respect to the rest of the discs they do, BUT im sure its not a common thing really, might just have been a bit defective from new. they will deffinatly sort you out they are great in that respect. RyanRs
the old Enduro lightning disks used to do that, hence y they got rid of them and replaced them with lil holes. i like my mini 185 rotor (im using it on an enduro brake) cos iv bent it about 3 times and kinked it once and its still going! just used combinations of vice, adjustable spanners and hand force to bend it / twist it back each time! hehe! altho, i could do with a new one now,...... where can i get a hope gothica disk from?? i no common sense would suggest 'Hope' but its not on there website, so maby you cant? i dunno? The Dude
Trials-forum.co.uk now officialy labels mono trials as.. 'shit' (Y) ← just because one of the biggest, roughest riders on the forum has made a couple little cracks in a rotor (which will probably be replaced for free) doesnt mean there "shit" if youve got a problem with your hope, learn how to bed it in properly. personally i would ride that, gives a rougher surface, more grip, unless ofcourse hope changed it for free. im still running a C2, as i know that they wont have knocked out all the problems with thier new fangled designes, and i love the feel of the lever. never had a problem with it. hope are an awesome company. end of. Ring Hope and ask them? ← for the 5th time?

Also, i would like to coment on your Biggest and roughest rider coment, I will agree that i am the biggest rider on the forum, possibly ever, BUT i will not like being called the roughest, all u have to do is watch some of my vids, especialy the most recent on carne brea, to notice that i am actualy a very smooth rider (Y) I have rang hope, sending the rotor back this afternoon :- Adam
MSM
"personally i would ride that, gives a rougher surface, more grip, unless ofcourse hope changed it for free." So what happens when it subsequently cracks at the outside of one of these cracks and lets the now snapped disc catch the pad or caliper from the back rather than the pad contact surface, possibly leading to a locked wheel, probably leading to damage to the pads and possibly the caliper... I guess that would be fine as it had "more grip" in the interim semi-failed period? :- Sorry, but it would be fairly daft for Bigman to ignore the early warning this disc has given him. I suspect Hope will just replace the disc, probably FOC. (Y)

N.Wood
for the 5th time? ← I realise that Hope will replace the rotor for free, and yes i have read all the replies saying that Hope will replace the rotor for free. My post was directed at RyanRs, who asked if Hope still did the Gothic rotors. He said he had not seen the rotors on Hopetech.com, and i replied to phone them to see. Watson©
you can still get the gothic rotors mines coming soon (Y) ← And I hope you're not going to be using the rotor on the Hope Trial (Y) I have recently put my Gothic rotor on my Trial Disc and I've had it on for about 4 days or something and all it has been is trouble, it dosn't lock as good as having the normal Trial rotor. And the brake feels better at one point and then dies at the other depending where the pads have hit the rotor... I'm giving it another few more days and if it dosn't sort its self out and stays crap the normal rotor is getting slapped back on :P Watson
