Yeah, well, today I was supposed to pick up my new T-Vee, which I had reserved but guess what?

That's right, them at highland cycles decided to sell it! (Y) :wink2:

Time for a quick email to tartybikes!

For those not interested...What bad times have you had buying new stuff?

What did they say when you went to pick it up?

Here's my bikedock stroy and wrote of for someother reason and saved it

I ordered some 4 bolt mounts, which on the site they were said to be in stock. I needed these mounts, as it was the only thing I needed for a new bike I had just built. The day after I ordered them I got an e-mail saying they had been sent out. A few days later, they hadn’t arrived. So I phoned them just to check they had been sent out. Well they hadn’t, even though I got an e-mail saying they had. They said they only had the mounts and not the bolts, and were waiting for the mounts from Super Cycles. Well, I had some bolts, so I said just send the mounts and send the bolts on later or something, I didn’t really care so long as I got my bike up and running. So they said they would send the mounts off on their own. But they phoned back later that day to tell me they got it the wrong way round, they had the bolts, but didn’t have the mounts. So I just cancelled my order and got them straight from Super Cycles, which I should have done in the first place.

So:

Why did they send me an e-mail saying they had been dispatched when they hadn’t?

Why didn’t they phone me when they weren’t in stock, like it says they would do on their site?

Why did they say they had mounts, when the only had the bolts?

It’s a shame really because I got a wheel build of them long before I made the 4 bolt mount order, with a lot of other items, and the only thing wrong was that they sent me 2 19” rim tape, rather than 1 19” and 1 20”, but that didn’t matter, apart from that the rest of the order was great, spot on. But when you’re waiting on an order that you need to ride your bike, it gets very annoying.

Yeah you got to be careful when using shops your not familiar with, and even if you do use them quite a bit you still have to make sure. I try not to order stuff online, I find it much better to phone them up. (exception is chainreaction when i have to). This way you can get them to double check and make sure everything is spot on.

Normally I use bike dock to order koxx bloxx and grips because they always get them to me pretty quick with no fuss. This monday when i rang them to order some they said they had run out. So fair enough I tried somewhere else.

I ended up buying from the trials shop. They had everthing so I placed the order. This was monday morning and I still have no grips or bloxx. This I find redicuolous.

If bikedock had had them in stock I would of got them latest wednesday.

Its not hard to post something first class is it. Im never using them again thats for sure :bunny: Shit shop!!

The only shops I really trust are broadribbs in biester (not lemington spa) and tartybikes :deej:

Maybe the employee that sold it was not aware you had spoken to one of his colleagues and reserved it verbally?

How long ago did you 'reserve' it?

It could have all been a genuine mix up...

Meh, the weathers crap atm so it doesnt matter too much as long as you get a bike sorted soon... :bunny:

The employee that reserved it was the employee that sold it.

It was reserved 2 days ago.

And the weathers fine here :deej:

Siders, why are you defending the shop, thats shit service, no denying it, if they say they are reserving a bike for you and they sell it - unless they had asked for deposit and you said you wont, then they deserve a smack in the balls.

I'm not really defending them. They had a right to sell it to someone else if he didn't put down a deposit. In my opinion anyway.

Yeah, fair enough it was shit service. :bunny:

Unlucky :bunny:

This reminds me of a little story...

.... rewind about, hmmm 10 years. My crankset was creaking - in need of a new bottom bracket. So me and my mum (I was in primary school) take my bike to the local bike shop and ask him to fix it by replacing the BB. A week later we collect it and he charges us £10- £15 or so if I remember correctly. On the very first ride it starts squeaking and wobbling again... so my dad thinks huh, and takes the cranks off himself- or tries to as they had rusted/ceased on! The guy in the bike shop hadnt so much as removed the crank arm dust caps never mind replaced the BB!! Well, we never returned there and he is now (only a year or so ago) out of business :deej: :deej:

Just my little story :">

Not if they tell you they will keep it for you. Not legally binding but I would never go there again. Broadribbs once replaced my broken pashley with a zebdi and sent the pashley back to be repaired. They said it was cool they would just keep the new pashley.

A year on and they are still waiting for the pashley.

Thats good service. If they say they will keep it for you they should, end of.

From now on, I'm definitely buying from Tartybikes or Supercycles.

After I got home yesterday, I called Tartybikes weekend number a couple of times, but there was no answer, so I called up Supercycles, who say they'll get a fully assembled T-Vee to me before Friday, and we got a 5% discount :bunny: :deej:

Thanks, Internet!

Well my lbs charged me £20 to put in a headset and then £5 more for the headset.

Earlier that year i brought my mission reefer (big mistake) after i rode it for about a month the cranks rounded off so they charged me £130 to fit a pair of trauvativ hustlefelts. Then every think else on the bike broke, the man said he has never known some one that brake bikes like me. Then i said it because the bike is a mission then the man said no you obusly are not riding the bike propaly.

Thanks Sam.

Dam, That sucks :shifty:

Here in Canada... if a bike shop or any shop sells an item u have reserved (you dont even need to put a deposit on it) on that item and they sell it u can get 2 of that item :D

Once when i went to a bike shop and I orderd a pair or Rock Shock Boxxers and they sold them when my name and all was on them... I got 2 of them B)

That was a 2000$ value at the time lol :P
