just taken delivery of my basebikes ta26. its an ebay special and the guy didn't really mention chopping the seat post tube.(you know the one on the frame) anyhow, i know people chop a bit off for magura boosters sometimes, but he's chopped loads off, well below where the slit is cut. there is only about 1cm of useable metal left. is it best to drill a hole and cut a new slot so i can use a clamp, or maybe fit a shim inside it, the clamp onto that, or maybe drill through the frame and seatpost and put a bolt through(which was his suggestion) or any other ideas? will pop a photo up later when i get home from work. steve

Frames usually crack more easy if theres no seat post. Maybe bare that in mind.

Chears.

Nick

It wouldnt make too much of a diffrence to be honest.

All hes done is cut the top part of the seat tube (where the seat starts to go it) cause it usually sita about 5 CM high and it a pain if you have a mini seat.

Like they've (^^) said, drill a hole and cut two lines into the remaining metal and wiggle the middle out, making a slot.

The seatpost will re-inforce the seat-tube, possibly spreading out any forces that go to the seatstay/seattube welds. So yea, well worth getting a seatpost - even if you cut it down like I did, about 6" long I think mine was!

Hope this helps!

Jonny.
