steve bain
just taken delivery of my basebikes ta26. its an ebay special and the guy didn't really mention chopping the seat post tube.(you know the one on the frame) anyhow, i know people chop a bit off for magura boosters sometimes, but he's chopped loads off, well below where the slit is cut. there is only about 1cm of useable metal left. is it best to drill a hole and cut a new slot so i can use a clamp, or maybe fit a shim inside it, the clamp onto that, or maybe drill through the frame and seatpost and put a bolt through(which was his suggestion) or any other ideas? will pop a photo up later when i get home from work. steve

TomN
Na you might have to sade some of the material of the mini seat to fit in though.
dave85
Its a big seat tube, you usually find you have to wrap some electrical tape around the top of the mini seat to get it to fit tightly.
JIX
I would drill a hole and cut a new slot because then you can use a seat post or put a mini seat in there. Its very easy to do. Its what I did on my zebdi.
Koxx_TryAll
Frames usually crack more easy if theres no seat post. Maybe bare that in mind. Chears. Nick

Nick ← It wouldnt make too much of a diffrence to be honest. All hes done is cut the top part of the seat tube (where the seat starts to go it) cause it usually sita about 5 CM high and it a pain if you have a mini seat. Waynio
hammer mini seat mini seat hammer mmmmmmmmmm wak wak wak and it goes in :wink2: (Y)" you just might need to trim the back of it and bend/tweek the booster a little bit. Waynio.................... i did it with mine all of 1 1/2 years ago
george_bush
The ta26 is designed to have a seat post in it. So get a seat post that fits then cut it so the seat post is a couple of inches lower than the top of the seat tube. Then put a mini seat in. Thanks Sam. dave85
Doesnt make much odds, it'll more than likely crack given the best support in the world anyway :bunny:
Jonny Jones
Like they've (^^) said, drill a hole and cut two lines into the remaining metal and wiggle the middle out, making a slot. The seatpost will re-inforce the seat-tube, possibly spreading out any forces that go to the seatstay/seattube welds. So yea, well worth getting a seatpost - even if you cut it down like I did, about 6" long I think mine was! Hope this helps! Jonny.
colly
i wouldnt drill a hole in it, as there is very little metal there, thus meaning the flex happening on the weld, dont do it put a mini seat in.
