Is It Worth Spending More Money For An Xtp

lets take a rain check:

its pisisng it down up here in yorkshire...............

and back to the topic what is it 1/2/3/4/5/6/7???maybe more world champions ride for koxx?????do you think that they wouldnt design the best bike in the world, altho the title "World Champion" must mean they ride  bike thats crap and over expensive and so what???? if they can do it (as they seem to be doing very well at it who cares??) i take my opinion afte rriding many more frames than most people on this forum and i have noticed the more you spend the better quality you get its a fact of life!!!! spend £1 on an allen key as to £4 the £1 allen key is rounded off after half dozen goes, a £4 will last longer and not round off as the material is better/stronger.

any way got no time for this am off out to get drunk in skipton. ta ta

Waynio.......................

il sen a pint down me levelboss frames head tube too i wonder if it can down it quicker than me  :ermm:"  :(

That was kinda confusing :D

The more you spend the better quality yes, however, there IS such a thing as over-charging, which Koxx and Monty and most "main" manufacturers are blatantly, blatantly guilty of doing.

The fact that the XTP is ridden by Worlds champions means the geometry's good. That's pretty much it. And even then, as I think you've pointed out before: Chris Akrigg is riding pretty damn well now, on his Mongoose-branded GT. He also rode well on a T-Raptor. However, he also rode well on a Justice. Basically, he rode just as well (in fact, his comp results were better on the T-Raptor, weren't they?) on the £170-ish T-Raptor as he did the £400 Justice. So a good rider on a good bike will generally be good anyway (with limits, of course)? Either way, again, if I'm laying down 3/4 of a grand on a frame I'd rather it had some kind of warranty on it, and had a better reputation for strength, really.

good point mark...................

BUT its all about the rider too a decent rider will make any bike ride "well" but its if it can perform to winning standards. im not getting into a slanging match you buy what you wanna buy but dont go ripping something you

a) cant afford

:( dont want to buy???

c) would rather buy a copy of

does that make sense as most people on here are ripping the SH!T out of frame swhen they aint even ridden them altho most people who have got them love them?????? or does that still mean they just buy them for the sake of it???? they buy it DUE to their experience in buying bikes, i for sure wouldnt be seen nower days on a cheap trials frame i would rather ride something with sh!t hot geometry and it ride well and improve my riding than something that will hold me back. just as an example look at my comp results this year???? was it just me putting more effort into my training??? yes maybe but some of it has to be because of the bike too........

you can carry on people making arguements about it BUT look at the world round circuit, how many people ride koxx and monty???what wa that??? the MAJORITY??? hmmmmmmmmmmm i wonder why.

i think i saw maybe 5/6 onza's and at least 60/70 Koxx and Monty's???? now come on lighten your head and look at it from that point of view, personally i dont care which bike this lad buys but at the end of the day he is looking at a koxx. someone has turned it into a "Slag" off big companies match.

it really doesnt have any problem upon me. but if you havent ridden one you dont know what something is like.

look at how many people wanted/ still want an XTP???? and why??? cos its original and it looks so god damn sexy???? ok so what onza will probably bring a frame out next year that looks just like it yet it weighs 3lb more and is stronger blah de blah de blah. but some people like light bikes????some people like people who hold the "Original" design for things

Waynio.......................

anyway i looked at it from this point of view, after having a zoo pitbull for less than a week and feeling it didnt feel right cos of the head angle then getting an 1100 levelboss i thought maybe i should give the pitbull a chance as i am now on an 1100 and not 1060, gets my new levelboss 2005 and it still doesn compare that 0.5 degree out of the headangle and the comfort and geometry of the bike literally settles the story for me! anyone could walk upto me and if they could say to me "sorry waynio but im afraid this onza is far better than your koxx" i will say well good choice, but i dont think i ever will. i have ridden chris walkers monty 221 ti a few times and no matter how many times i have a go on a £420 t-pro or a £500 t-mag or even the £700 t-mag it just does not compare. GEOMETRY and QUALITY. the originality of a COMPANY. i have got a friend whose dad has said to me design a frame you ride it and then we will sell 100 of em. eassy eh??? everyones DREAM!!!! but no its not that simple ok yes i could have someone elses money tied up in something i have designed but i want to be confident enought that my design would be worth buying, i would literally have to make it to a price point or to such high quality of geometry and value for money. it will be so hard to do, BUT you may see something new next year you may not. but if i do end up designing something i will make it original i wont copy other frame designs i will make sure it is different and wont be copied easily.

I know what you mean about riders and stuff, I was just saying that good riders can ride any bikes, and therefore do ride many different ones, but just because X uses it it isn't necessarily the best option.

If I wanted to, I could pretty easily afford to pay £750 for a frame, but I wouldn't as I can't justify it.

I don't want to buy a copy of it.

And I've basically been listing the reasons I didn't want to buy it, which is what has formed my opinion on it? So I don't really get how expressing my opinion about which frame would be best to get in a thread that is precisely about that?

But yeah, like you say - might as well leave it :(

I have to say the XTP is a gorgeous bike but the price tag is a bit outrageous! I'd rather go for the CZAR, and probably would be at some point in the future, but I can't really justify spending over £700 on any frame! We ride trials, we go through components and frames, £300/400 pound is LOADS for a frame! £400 for british built custom frames or £750 for french punched out frames?

Erm I ride street 95% of the time as hardly any natty round here and guess what, Ive got a 1090 wb bike.  Just because its long doesnt mean you cant ride street on it, not bunny hops and shit as they are hard, I can still 180 it, manual it, i did a 360 tyre tap the other day.  But I can also tap 42" etc on street.  So that was a silly statement that you cant use a 1090 wb bike on street.

i ment real street as in mat berrige(sp.)style that people favor shorter and often steel frames for, not uci style street as thats not street really. and i can do all the moves you described above on my vinco so its not really the point. all im saying if you ride full on street style dont buy an xtp. if you ride both natural and street then consider 1

lol...........

buy a cezar then when it rides like a dog cos no one has tested it and you start crying cos you have to spend yet another £400 on something else.......also by this time you have spent £800 instead of £750 :wink2:" (Y) so you ave over spent and still aint fully happy. if i could explain how vincents bike rode (even with the brakes the wrong way!) i rekon i could easily do nearly anything on the bike it is just lush. even though i have my mind on a 1085 wheelbase Kenny Belaey frame i would love to ride an XTP or a Vinco. purely for the b/b lift.

Waynio...................

the only way monkeys will learn is by making mistakes and alot of people on here make mistakes BUT they still think its wise to make more and more mistakes.if you think a little more before you do you will notice alot of things will become clearer and easier.just my opinion on matters, iv been doing trials for nearly 5years and i have only just realised in the last 2 that its important to be riding a "Good" frame. it deffinatly does pay.

Wayne dont get a beleay for 2 reasons 1). they have a gash paint job and 2). get something with a high bb. i think it would suit your style of riding. as you got contacts with koxx then maybe try the new xtp or...!! get a vinco, athough it might be a bit large for you as it was for lee and hes aa bit taller than you, maybe a GU if you could, rides really nice and i mean really nice you dont notice the bb rise until you need to. rides like a 0degree rise bike on 2 wheels and a +bb on the back wheel and it also manuals ridiculously easy. the short stays means you can tap just by pulling up instead of pedaling. if you seriously think bout getting a high BB frame then gimme a shout as i have the vinco and lee now has a GU :bunny:
