chrishayton
hi all. right my mate is selling his vinco frame and i might buy it. i'm just curious to see how other people have got on with them, ino some people don't like them and i can see the reasons for this e.g. looping out. but i'm interested in the positives to high bbs and reasons why i should buy it instead of my 2004 koxx levelboss 1065. btw i'm 5ft 11 to let you know cheers chris
TheMunn
My mate has one, I think it is one of the nicest bike's to ride, ever. I'm the same height as you and I love the way it feel's. If only I had one (Y)

Davetrials
Ive got a echo pure which is about +50 and i love it!!!!!! the only draw back is wheel swaps due to a high bar height it makes them difficult on anything above 28"
TheMunn
Echo pure only has 10 or 12 mm dude.

chrishayton
yeh the bb rise is a bit extreme, i want a new frame pref with bout +40 bb but i can get this really cheap and if i dont like it i supose i can always sell it, by wheel swaps you mean like tunni style on rails or as in pigieons(replacements)

Try and see if you can adjust bar/lever angle and shit to your style too. If you say you're doing it with an eye to buying it, he might be cool with it? Luke Drewery
I have had the same thoughts on this subject, as i plan to buy a new frame in a few months and i was looking at the hi-fi or the GU as i can imagine them suiting my style and riding sweet. However, i am afraid that i will be crap on it because of the difference in bb height (dramatic, i have a 2005 t-rex at the mo) but i am sure i would get used to it. I got the t-rex because of a swap with a friend, i had a 1065 levelboss and wanted something longer as i am 6ft3 tall (15 too (Y) ) but even the t-rex isnt what i expected, it is a very nice bike though. The fact that the GU comes in a 1095 version is tempting

Mr Motivator
Bah, dont like all this high BB tripe. Its like getting on a horse. I've got +30 atm but I'm after a new frame soon and would never go above +10  Sam
Ali C
you will already know about what I think Chris but......... High bbs are a personal thing, dont go thinking that just because its the in thing that its what you need. I got a hi fi as most people said high bbs helped with comps and riding in general. I found my hi fi actually hindered my riding, espesially on natural. I would just loose my balence and fall off  My taps just dissapeared, couldnt even do bar hight when the week before I was doing nearly 50" on my pure. Phil Williams didnt like his either. Its good that you can try his vinco, you might like hi bbs, but you might not.

colly
found that taps sidehops and most other things are alot easier on a +20mm frame, sam alibongos are +20mm

Waynio
upto +40 is about as much as you need. the vinco is designed for a guy that is 6ft + tall and rides extremly smooth and likes to bridge gaps and has extrmely awesum balance, just watych how vinco rides his signature model bike. he is one of the best "smoothest" riders out there, ok might not be as good as belaey or Vincent BUT he is well respected by them as he has one of the best styles and i think its his style that suits that bike so well. just my opinion though. how much is he selling ti for chris????? Rossi
I wasn't sure if I'd like my BT coming from the Rex, but I wouldn't go back to a low BB frame now I'm used to the BT, it's definately the best trials frame I've ever owned (non biased opinion). Going onto back wheel is effortless. My RAVen 6.0 has got a 50mm BB rise, and it's perfect for me. It took some gettin used to thats for sure, coming from a frame with no BB rise at all! Since I got the frame, my riding has improved loads. Sidehops are better, taps are much easier, also my gaps haven't gone downhill. This was one thing I was worried about before I got the frame. I read a post by TRA about his Vinco, and he mentioned not being able to gap the bike to back wheel as good. I can gap the BT just as far as I could on the Rex  So I haven't got any worse, probably just remained the same at them. Anything involving going to front wheel first, higher BB frames help imo. At the end of the day, it's like marmite. You either hate it or love it. I love higher BB frames thats for sure. If I was you Chris, give it a try. Rossi. chrishayton
hey all cheers for all the replys, Just got back from riding a bit of street with lee and the vinco and i have to say i love it, i can gap just as far to back wheel , further to front wheel sidehop higher and alot easier pigeon higher, switch easy and hop up to back wheel higher, so yah tis amazing, the only thing that i found weird was get ups to back wheel with out a tap, it might take getting used to, i can do it as high just that you have to take off sightly later but steeper, and i can TAP!! lol as people who rode with me know i suck at taps but on the vinco i have more confidence to tap on it as the high bars make the front wheel more controllable. as it is effortless on the back wheel i can just hop about till my hearts content, its all a bit good really lol. I'm definatley going to get it, hes ordering his new frame tomorrow so should have it by weekend. and Ali i rode Lees bike at addingham about a month ago, i were really struggling on a section up hill and as soon as i tried lees vinco it was so much easier, the eno probably helped a bit but as ill be getting a chris king in next couple of month then that wont be a problem. The problem i was worried about looping out isn't a problem, i think it could be due to the slightly longer stays than on most high bb frames(e.g hifi, gu) as the chainstays are 385 instead of 375. The only real negative point i have found is that its made my levelboss feel awful, I can hardly stay on backwheel any more and sidehops and pigeons just feel so hard and sketchy. Anyway i've rambled on for a while now so ill just leave with saying thanks for all the replys and i think people who haven't tried high bb's should, its like Rossi said you ll either love it or hate it i love it
chrishayton
i bought the frame and built it up now. and its lovely. theres a pik on my profile if anyone is interested, i can can static 8 ft on it so nearly as far as my levelboss, should get better when i get used to it.
