Injuries....

I don't believe i have any pics of the time this happened , but basically I hit my shin into the pedals the hardest I think it's possible to without breaking it, thanks to the joy of 7mm of pin sticking out of the pedal it took it straight down to the bone and did its best to tear away all the flesh you can see between the two scars, cue a trip to hospital with my leg in complete shock and pissing blood and fourteen stitches and 6 months later it was fully healed :shifty:

Blah i so wish we took a camera out riding.. i attract bad falls when on the sunny isle of wight.

Here is one of my ankle a week after a gap over some stairs  i couldnt get out of bed to take any pics  sooner. Luckily the bruising has started to go away and swelling had gone down by then.

The hole/cut is where it rolled so much it touched the ground and cut on some stone or something.

Here is what its like a year on for comparison:

Also mr tarty might have a pic somwhere of my cut shin.. got hit 3 times in the same place by my pedal. THAT WAS FUN

(Y) you broke it right? lol

all of them look nasty..

leedstrials's leg is :-

iv only had bad cuts from pedals and impalled my self on the end of my bars that nearly made me faint

and twisted my ankle after falling from a 5ft skip :D

Tore muscles on my left shoulder blade about 7 years ago. It still gives me grief. It makes a nice clicking noise. That was from landing on my back, after jumping some steps in Guildford.

Recently arrived at the same place as a BMW at the same time (not strictly trials but it was on the bike) and suffered an inelastic collision with his bonnet. Ended up with a dislocated left shoulder, only after telling the guy that I was okay and I will walk it off did I realise that my shoulder was in the wrong place. Luckily he didnt let me go anywhere until an ambulance turned up.

4 weeks later and the fracture clinic man told me that I had a broken scaphoid as well. I thought Id be the first to know that I had a broken wrist, but not so. 2 months on the shoulder is fine but my left hand is still sore. I cant ride yet as it feels like Im pulling my hand off.

It sucks.

(Y)  you broke it right? lol

Lol i wish.. i went to have it x rayed the day after ( dont ever tell them that though, if you do go for an x ray you have to say you did it that day else they wont bother ) and it didnt show up any fractures. But Si ( mr physio ) said it looks like a total rupture of the ligaments hence the bruising everywhere. Which pretty much means its f**ked, currently going through some rehab with both ankles, using a wobble board.. great fun............................................... not

i see..

but if it was still swollen which i'm guessin' it would be in that state lol then of course you would'nt be able to tell on an x-ray you would have to go for a scan

but anyway... looks fine now haha (Y) (Y)

I've had exactly the same thing happen to me. Simon said the same thing to me too. Just one ankle though.

fractured scaphoids are a bitch as they just feel like a sprained wrist that hangs around for weeks and weeks, if you get symptoms like that then its more likely the scaphoid has gone. it dont take much to crack it

point of reference!! if you crack your scaphoid you can restrict the blood flow through it and the bone starts to shrink and kinda die (non tech speak) but this is pretty dodgy as you will then require surgery and a bone graft. ok so thats worst case scenario though

most often its required to wear a wrist brace for anything up to 16 weeks for a scaphoid fracture

so if you have symptoms like this then go get it xrayed!!

Do you lose movement in the hand as well? I cant bend my hand back to the same extent as the other one as it gets to a certain point and starts to hurt.

sounds like a scaphoid to me mate

best get yourself down to your gp to get xray referral as if its more than 48 hours after you have done it the a&e dicks will laugh and tell you to go away little boy for wasting their time and not coming down when you hurt it

its def worth looking into

do it!!

It was confirmed, about 5 weeks ago at my local fracture clinic, but they seemed not to be too concerned. I had 2 weeks of physio on it previous to this as they thought it was just muscle damage. It just seems to be getting better very slowly. Im making an appointment tonight to see my GP next week. Its been about 9 weeks now since I broke it. Is it a good idea to try and stretch it, or to try a minimise how much I use it?

ok so its a tiny crack then?

thats cool, but the thing is the less you use it the stiffer and weaker it will get

bestt thing to do is get a tennis ball or squash ball and squeeze it in the palm of your hand to try strengthening the muscles up, then you must also keep the movement going in your wrist. do it daily for about 15-20 mins

do you have full range of movment mate?

it could be weeks more!! thats not uncommon

but yeah, get yourself back there to get it reassessed

si

and btw i didnt read the previous post that it was confirmed fractured, so less of the attitude!! whoever that was
