20 hours is the recommended, but you may be ready before that. I've just done 3 point turns after 6 lessons, so should be ready by my 20th, hopefully. Make sure you get the theory out of the way quick though.

i think the recommended is actually 40hours................

I put in for mine after 15 ish lessons, but it was about 25 lessons by time i passed 3rd time, robbing bastards.

I did 3 point turns 2nd lesson, so it swings and roundabouts.

Get AS MUCH driving in as you physically can. Experience is the key

And when you pass, the real learnign begins :)

it realy depends on how fast you pick it up everyones different, my mate didnt have any lessons and he passed first time he just picked it up himself.

The official average is 2 hours for every year of age. So an 18 year old, for example, would average 36 hours of lessons.

I've had about 14 so far. Passed the theory after like 5 lessons so that it's out of the way. Practical booked for late September, but I'll try and get cancellations nearer the time.

Can't wait.

Ive had 7 90minute lessons (2 a week) so far got my theory booked for 2 weeks time. I still havent done 3 point turns as my instructor leaves stuff like that to the very end. As ^ said and my instructor having 2 instead of 1 a week helps loads. Also i prefer my 90 minute lessons :)

I've had 11 so far, got my theory on friday, if I pass that I'll book me practical! After 11 lessons I've covered ALL my manouvers and got most dialed, 3pt turn and reversin round corners are fine, its just lining up and stuff on some others. I've been lucky and have picked driving up really quickly, its just my observations apparently.... I always know whats going on but meh!

my instructor told me a soon as i pass my theory he is booking the test, i passed the theory no problemo last wednesday so he booked the test which is for 22nd september, so be prepared for a 2 month waiting period.

Ive only had 5 lessons but he still booked it because of the waiting time and in the 2 month period i can fit in at least another 10 lessons if i need to.

Talk to your driving instructor and whatever he decides will probably be the best option.

i think i had 7 or 9 hours of lessons, passed first time.

but then again i have been driving sinse i was 10 :turned:" although in many ways, that was a bad thing!

i covered all the manouvers in my first and 2nd lesson, and spent the next 5 trying to un learn the bad habits id picked up after 7 years of driving/racing minis!

i also couldnt be bothered to wait for my test date, so got the first cancelation i could, and borrowed my girlfriends mums car.

i was the only person in plymouth to take a test the day i passed, as all the others opted to cancel because it was snowing!!!
