Is It Worth The Upgrade?

Hi, I've been looking at getting a T-Pro, but might be able to stretch to pay for a T-Mag (Spec 1). As far as I can tell, the only difference is the frame and front brake (Magura Louise instead of HS33). I have never used a disc before, what are the good/bad points about them? Would it be worth paying the little bit extra to go up to this bike? What extra do you get on Spec 2? Or are there any better bike for the £500 mark?

Cheers!

If you have the dosh, go for the t-mag, you right it is the same near enough just with a front disc. Your not only getting the disc though, but the hub and the forks are both disc compatible. Discs are much better than a maggie as they have the same power, and much more controll.

The spec 2 has much better cranks (tensiles), stem (t-master), rear hub (sealed) and pedals (hognesium). It's worth getting if you can afford £650 + P&P.

The t-pro is a perfectly good bike though. If your just starting out, maby the t-pro would be you best option as you will need money for extras such as a helmet and tools ect.

So I guess it just comes down to if I want discs or not? I can't really afford £650 for Spec 2...

Just read the reviews on the Louise brakes on Biketrials.com seems like people have had leakage and pumping(?) problems. Anyone know much about that?

I wouldnt say I'm a total beginner, I used to ride to a good standard about 4 or 5 years ago, so I don't think it wil take me too long to get back up to speed... Especially if there are any riders from York that fancy helping me out sometime?

If it was me i would go with the t-pro.

Its a tried and tested bike and if you decide later on you want a disc you can spend a little more on a good setup, rather than the basic Louise, and shitty forks.

T-Pro (N) , save yourself £80 and spend it on some nicer bits (cranks, bar+stem, Team forks etc...)
