Mr Motivator
Well heres the story, I drilled a 521 with 13mm holes and sprayed it black. It was great but the paint chipped alot so I stopped using it and got an echo. Then I marker penned the silver bits black and driled it with 8mm holes and that looks whack. So I might start using the 521 again but am searching for a way to not have chipping paint (I used primer, and lacquer too btw). I have a new pot of smooth black hammerite in my shed and tried a little on an old mavic rim and it scratch real easy as your suposed to use a primer wit it when you use it on a non ferous metal. So has anyone painted some ally using the hammerite primer and paint and does it chip lol? Any other ideas to black it? Sam
Nick Garland
It chips, lol. Ive got it on my bash and its chipped around edges, also my mate painted his D521 with it and it looks gash. Steer clear.

munkee
fashion over functionality always causes problems... I say get it powder coated. Although how did the spray paint chip? i didnt know things hit the actual rim, unless the paint blistered.. which means the rim wasnt clean/dry
Endohopper
You got 13 mm holes in a D-521 ? Hmmm.... (N) Guess I'll be gettin'my drill out then , I'm only running 9mm . Did the wheel seem to be affected strength wise at all ? Sorry , dude : no help on the whole Hammerite vibe , I'm afraid . Yeah it was great (N) I gave it some big dents on the sidewalls and it was still true (N) I wouldn't go bigger than 13 though even though bigman did 15 (N)
Tony Harrison
Use the Echo rim you big silly. Who gives a damn what it looks like - my bike looks like a shed but it still rides ok.

One the Hammerite side of things, the stuff in a can is awsome, i am currently sprayin my rims for my new project, as long as the paint is alowed to harden properly, it is uber hard stuff, also looks very nice. Not sure on the brush on stuff though. Adam
