_skj0lsvik_
Hi, is the Avid Ball Bearing7 a good brake when you got decent pads? I know about hydros so dont come up with those, I cant afford them :- So, is it a "goodenough" brake?

Most people will choose it over all the hope's (bar the hope mono trial). I'v got one and it is pleantly powerful (and thats with the standard pads), modulation is great, easy to maintain, set up etc. :- Edited July 22, 2005 by JT! JIX
JT! whats so good about the Hope Mono Trial? Nothing, buy a Avid Juicey 7 or a Magura Marta SL What are you on about, how about grab, lock, power, modulation, feel, hope service, pimp look, robust, maintance free!!!! Cant really think of anything else I would want from a disk. The avid is very good aswell just dont knock everything else.

Luke Drewery
I run an avid front disc with standard pads, cheap and cheerful fibrax cable and xtr lever and it works amazingly well, especially for the price. Good for gaps to front wheel, hops up to front wheel, stoppies, endos, natural riding etc etc. Top brake with a top price :-

Rich Pearson
Ditto again. I've got a 203mm front disc and a 180 for the rear, both with XTR levers. Never had a better brake for the front (havn't got the new frame with disc tabs yet, but if the fronts anything to go by, I'm not worried.) Mr Motivator
Juicy seven :-. After about a year avid BB7s start to die. The Juicy is even nicer than my BB7!
Janson
get the avid. you will thank me this winter. mechanical disc brakes feel as nice in the cold as the warm, unlike hydraulic brakes. :-
