As a result of that (and also it being crap :- ) the escorts gotta go for something newer, nicer, more reliable and more economical. Heres the stuff I need/want Nice car for one At least a 1.6 petty or a TDI would be nice, but not a ford TDI (and cant afford a TDCI) Alloys Bit of funness inside, Air con etc would be nice, ford Ghias come with leather.... Must like motorway miles. Ie. cant be drinking the juice while doing 70/80mph I was looking at a Focus Ghia. Very nice cars to look at, drive, well built and have alot for your money. Wanted a diesel really but have been advised that the older TDIs are poo and the newer TDCI, whist AMAZING are outta my price range at the mo. So I was advised the next best thing in focus form is the 1.6. Any coments on this??? What cars can peole comment on? My price range is between about 4 and 5k. It's an extremely comfortable car and really does soak up motorway miles. I done around 400 miles and it cost less than £30 to fill it back up. fairy elephants Posted July 22, 2005 Report Share Posted July 22, 2005 You should look at the rover 25, as they hae just gone down the pan you can pick up an almost new one with all the mod-con's for relatively small money :- Skoda Fabia's are meant to be a good car... I'm driving a 1.8L ford mondeo, and although very comfortable to drive, it does drink alot of fuel, I think it's around 32ish Mpg, with general mix of driving types. Get the HDi with 110bhp, its very nice (the one i got) check out car giant for some good ex company cars, which go for a bit cheaper too. Can also be remapped to 136bhp if you feel that way inlined, and will still return you 55 mpg. you can buy a 136bhp version, but it is quite difficult to come by, and is exactly the same as the 110bhp version, but with a remapped turbo. A new diesel is definately the best for motorway cruising, because you have so much torque. There was a white one on car giant 90,000 miles (equivilent to 55,000 on a petrol) 17 alloys, leather, cd changer, for about 5.5 k Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nobody really bought them due to their pooeyness. 5.5K is a bit too much really for me, as I am gonna be bummed 1.5k on insurance aswel......... Really nice to drive, but the amount of little things that have gone wrong on it mean that as soon the the warrenty is up, it will probably be replaced. The interiors have really cheap plastic and it does feel quality. Oh, and the fuel economy has not been that great over the last few year on it - getting only 450miles to a 60 litre tank. I myself have an Astra Coupe Turbo. All the Mk4 Astras are really nice to drive, even the diesels. If you can stretch to it, an Mk4 Astra 2.0 CDTi would be perfect for you. I agree it feels quality, but it seems like youre contradicting yourself there... our 02 plate pug seems pretty good quality inside, and all the plastics feel very nice and solid. Can drink fuel whilst in the city (alot) but on motor way it doesnt seam to go down very much! Paided £5000 for it with 48000 on the clock It has air con, heated front windscreen, fogs, power stearing, air bags both sides and alloys! Amazing size, the boot space is bob on. Love it on the motorway, so smooth but its more fun on twisty country roads than the like of the mondeos etc. If you need more info on focus's in general look at www.ffoc.co.uk and look on the forum! The whole lot comes straight out! ← Yeah, I know what you mean about hard to keep clean, the bobbly bits get grimw stuck all around them! but when it is clean,, it looks nice. My car has the dark blue and black interior, so it may be different to yours. the fully black interior looks a bit more tacky. The cup holder and everything comes out so you can clean them easily! I dont have young-uns, so it seemed like a good idea to me, especially as the car was filthy when i got it. BMW Z4 next!
