MrMonkey
Okay dokay, my girlfriend's parents believe that web cameras allow viruses to access your computer. I would like to know if this is possible or not. So PC Boffs let's clarify this. Thanks in advance ladies.
Siders77
I don't think they can. Lol. I don't even see how they will. :S I don't know anything about computers anyway. Haha! :"> Edited July 21, 2005 by Siders77
MrMonkey
That's what I thought, but I guess a port has to open for it to send info, so I ain't sure.
Tony Harrison
Why does a port have to open? Web cams work by splitting a video stream into a series of still images and then uploading them to a web server, do they not? If you download free 3rd party web cam software then there is always a risk that it could be dodgy and contain spyware.

Phatmike
I know a few people will be wanting a program like this, what with all the pwetty girls, webcams, alcohol, etc. Capture that special webcam moment. http://www.fox-magic.com/download.html You'll be wanting screen virtuoso 1.9 :S :D Have fun. :S And no, I've not heard of ANYTHING that would mean virii could pass via webcams. sfboy
I think they're referring to a virus from a while back that had the ability to remotely switch on a web-cam and send the pictures without the owners knowledge. Although it was not a virus spread by webcams, they were probably thinking of that. I did get some great video though....... :S
HarshRider
ovioulsy if the person being viewed on the web cam is reallty ugly, then it may cause infections and viruses within the pc unit! :S
