Capix Helmets

Hey Mike, They have foam padding like Pro-tec oldschool helmets, probably not as safe as polystyrene etc, but much lighter/better looking.

When I tried to order a pro-tec the guy at Alans said they were similar, but if you want one, get in quick, he said something about them soon being withdrawn from sale.

and this one looks well kool...will match my bt :S

Wont work i'm afraid, Most of the protection is on top of the helmet so it kind of sits on top of your head and makes you look like a cone head lol

ye that sounds like it now you have mentioned it Rich a Pro-Tec jobba.

Waynio.......................

i dont understand the differences between these piss pot helmets but chris says them pro-tec ones are one of the best and most comfortable as there more flexible to fit your head better.

i just use a Giro Xen or E2 nice fit and extremly comfortable.

I ordered a large they only have large and xl in stock at the mo - try rollersnakes though they had all sizes in stock. But you now have a bucky lasek so...meh!!

the newer protec ones and tsg ones have solid foam all round the helmet and use smaller pads to alter fit, whereas the older pro-tec one and capix ones have a softer foam lining and foam pads, that don't go around all the helmet, just at certain points. So the helmet has more flex in it and provides a comfier fit and has more room for air to circulate so are a bit cooler too :)

Didn't that helmet fail British Standards or something? I thought Bongo said that a while ago. Basically, I don't think foam helmets are good for you in a high-speed crash. But for the average trials rider/BMXer who just wants his helmet to take the odd knock, they're probably ideal.

yeah it failed the 'lets ram a big spikey spike though it test' all the actual impact tests it passed.

piss pots can generally take a few more knocks than mtb helmets too.
