philking
hi i need some peoples views on what front brake to have.I have a full xtr vee but have been offered to swap for a front mini (not th mono mini but not the old one) so any help would be appreciated ← In my opinion the mini - i used to have one then upgraded to the hope trial, but the mini is sound (Y) Only if it is a large rotor. !85 minimum for stock, and about 165 for mod
CurtisRider
yup the mini is a sound brake, i liked both of mine (Y) get at least a 185 rotor, and upgrade to some ebc red pads for stupidly good power (Y)
Endohopper
I'm presuming you mean this for use on the front , if so I'm gonna leap to the defence of XTR here . A correctly set up V-Brake , especially an XTR can offer awesome stopping power and modulation at a reasonable weight . It's all about setting it up and careful pad / cable choice . Andy Vox
Ill go for v brake also. Ive got an xtr and its stupidly powerful, with good modulation. Also you would probably sturggle to twat it on a wall like a disc.
N.Wood
I'm gonna vote for disk... With a V, i could never get it to work well and be quiet... if it worked well it squealed like a beatch. Also, you don't get the wet weather performance of a disk.
CurtisRider
i run a v at the back, and its silly powerful-i know how to set 1 up well (Y) but upfront it would be sketchy, theres little modulation compared to a disc, its so inconsistant i find, for me a disc upfront is the only way for me to feel comfortable doing moves involving the front brake-cos i know what its doing
Mr Motivator
Mini. Infact all the minis I have ever tried have been amazing and have awesome modulation. Much better than the mono minis.

rathergoodpie
get the ebc 203 rotor and ebc greens. You won't regret it. Workis just as well as a mono trial.  I cant express how much i love my brake. Just make sure ur disc mounts are proper good. Luke Drewery
is that including postage ← Huh? Anyway, do what sam said, this is how i bedded in my avid front disc and it worked instantly, ever since i did that it has locked amazingly where as before it couldnt hold my weight on gaps to front wheel etc.
