Tomm
Jesus, will someone please buy JT's lever! haha. I like the shape of shimano levers (XT or XTR), but Avids are just as good and slightly cheaper :P
Fishwog
I won't run anything but an XTR if I have anything Cable, I just adore the feel of the lever, and the power is great aswell!

CurtisRider
xtr or avid ultimate-dont bother with anything else cos these are the tits, i have both and like them loads, smooth, strong and look great get linear slick or nokon cables, that combination is great :P
Tomm
I never had any problems with my XTs. I ran them for 5 years until the bushing finally went (although I have kinda fixed it so might put them on the BMX). To be honest, the only difference between XT and XTR is the pimp factor, and maybe XTR will last longer. In terms of feel they are identical. Bionic Balls
got myself an XTR on ebay....very pleased :P had an sd5 before- also good, especially for the price. SD7 sounds like a top notch lever too.... depends what you want to spend. XTR on ebay ~ £18. adam
JKH
Anything Shimano, Deore or above. Avid levers feel horrible in my opinion. I prefer the Shimano LX lever, it has more power than an XTR, and you can get a used set for about £5.
Ben Cox
i have a shimano acera front lever (well whole brake) and it runs beautifully, excellent power excellent modulations and dirt cheap to boot lol Ben

the666ers
I had an XT and the bushing on the pivot fell out and it wobbled like a whore. That was after about 2 months. Bought an XTR and the feel is about 100 times nicer, more solid and powerful. You can get them for 28quid (including postage)at alans bmx, with free lollies from so you might as well (Y) James

Endohopper
Thanks for the link , 666ers , good price fot XTR levers . It's getting time to replace my XTs , which like most described above , did excellent service for a long time 'till the bushing perished . Ross W.
Avid sd7 or ultimate. I've used sd5 and XT's( on the xc bike actually :"> ) I definitely like the feel/shape/look of the avids better.
