Would Pace Rc31 Carbon Forks Be Strong Enough?

Hi all, i currently ride a mod but i'm building up a stock very soon. I have been offered a pair of pace rc31 carbon forks (coustellier style). does anyone know if theses would be strong enough to withstand general trials use, front touching etc?

they have magnesium drop outs which fall off from the force of running a disc brake but if you run a v they would be ok fir the smooth rider

waynio had a pair and i think the dropouts came off

id use them though

they are purely wikid forks i have had a set custom made down to a more reasonable length people may see them next week up at addingham for the world round as its tempting me to use the lightest possible parts on my bike. but the drop outs aint that clever. if you break them dont go crying to pace THEY WILL know you have used them for trials. AND when i had mine made i hade to write a disclaimer and sign one from them to confirm under any circumstances or breaking and injury to myself (ie carbon splints up my arse or in my head) then i could not claim compo. and that was fair enough. my new ones dont have any flex and im hoping that the new dropout lasts longer.

Waynio........................

if you wish to see mine if your going to the wolrd round let me know il have them in the van with me.

nice1 (Y) (Y) pop over to see me. you wont miss the van it should be stickered up by next weekend. the size i have had mine modified down to would look wikid on a mod too.

you will see anyway.

Waynio....................

all i would say is DONT be scared of the carbon breaking be more scared of the drop outs. as when mine broke the front disc snapped the caliper off and i was left bridging a gap and the front wheel dropped down cos the caliper literally fell off.

you can get like a v-brake kit to put a magura or v-brake on the front and it would be alot safer as the dropouts then would not break unless you drop the forks on the floor without the wheel in

i ride for cleanbikes at the moment on a monty ti but i wanted to get one of those coust rep frames to try as i luv front touching. I see the coustelliers have there own home made forks. Is there no way i can take the dropouts off a stick them with maybe a stronger glue or something, or maybe srew them in?????

yo dude,

if you had made some alu ones then they would be much stronger i myself have been looking into a pair of dropouts alone that i can then unbond my magnesium dropouts and bond alu ones onto the lower legs easy enough to do as all i would need to do is put a wheel in while the bonding is taking place so that the dropouts dont set on a bit skew iff.

i will look into it again this week, as if you get some 2nd hand RC31 off ebay or sumit you could easily make/design some dropouts and see about an engineer knocking a couple of pairs up.

Waynio......................

iv literally been too busy to do anything lately.

not dont have any spare once i break them i throw them.

best thing to do is just have the forks in front of you and measure the forks and such forth.

get better dimensions and they more accurate.
