Old Hope Minis

Like it says in the title, I got a rather old (but good condition) Hope mini for the front FOR FREE! :)

This is for my T-Pro, and I was wondering if anyone else uses one for the front of a Mod.

What are they like?

Cheers, :P

Its a silver one..can't really tell you much more as I know fook all 'bout them.

I Think It's a 2002 one...

And it has this lever:

Is that what you mean Shaun H?

I'll put up some pictures when I get home (at School at the moment ;) )

I had one and it was pretty immense :shifty: then i got some EBC green pads and they were a bit shoddy, and i ended up swapping it for a magura louise disc.

But it rocked with the hope pads. I had a 185 rotor though so it was a bit beast.

Old style hope mini.....

IMO the best and most reliable front disk available.

I have had no problems with mine atall and have had it for 2 years. (Y)

I recently overhauled it with a braided hope hose from tartybikes and a set of ebc red pads. Very stiff brake now and the power is awesome, i am running mine on my t-pro with the new echo team forks (cnc ones) so a similar setup and i love it to bits :)

Your a lucky chap to have got one for free :P

Its free so ace !!

But i used a hope mini on my mates dh bike and i have to say it was the worst brake i had every used, it would not lock unless i grabed it, it did not really appeal to me one bit ! :)

Maby his was just a bad one ?

And he could not set it up propperly ?

Sam

Ahh i just rember i had a go on Sam wheelers bike and i loved it was a really nice brake .

Just make sure you set it up propperly (Y)

that rotor does'nt look quite right? it looks like a rotoe designed for the old hope xc4 brake because the surface area for the braking surface on the old mini's was quite large, as they were wavy rotors, from which you could have names etc laser cut?

it would probably work better with the correct rotor, which was either a 165mm or a 185mm

And from the picture it looks like the caliper isn't even using all of the Aztec disc so it'll only be using like half of the contact area available on the pads. Get a wavy hope one and get Leeson to machine it for you (Y)
