PaRtZ
Just wondering what does Neil Tunnicliffe, Ben Savage, Vincent Hermance etc. do in the day? Obviously david beckham just sits on his arse and watch money fly through the letterbox but trials riders dont get paid as much so I just wondered what they do with their time

PaRtZ
awww thats unfair. The majority of top riders should be treated like kings or queens :S
N.Wood
You can't really compare the likes of Neil Tunnicliffe and Hermance... They're in 2 completely different leagues. The 'lesser' riders will have jobs and/or college, like normal people. However people like Hermance will be doing training (both on the bike and in the gym), demo's and probably things like visiting the Koxx offices to sort stuff out. But other than the top 15 or so in the world, they're all just normal people who can ride a bike well. It's a hobby that they're good at. Brian Bleech
You will probably find that the top koxx riders and other teams (monty) - also help out in the factory/office, sorting stuf out, building bikes and stuff.

Waynio
awww thats unfair. The majority of top riders should be treated like kings or queens but why though????? i work with akkers and he is a laugh all day long from start to finish and he enjoys what he does. i dont think that he could do it without having a job. he couldnt finance himself. its the same with people like Ben Savage he goes to college to learn a certain trade or disipline and he will then join the club as most of us by getting a job. i dont see why anyone would want to sit on their arse all day. even people like hawzee and ashton i think there is alot more to it than you think. Hawzee stayed in the same room as myself and the GF saturday night before the british round and again it was an absolute laugh and extremly fun, the "hows your job" question came up and hawzee explained to me that its literally just like i do its not all fun fun fun all the time most of it can be but there is more to it than riding your bike. What happens when your injured? what happens when you cant do what you have planned???? theres alot of thing that need to be done that none of us do or would understand. spending time with people such as Chris, Hawzee and Ashton makes me more dedicated to the sport and makes me want to be like them more and more. i dont just want cycling as a JOB i want it as leisure fun and thats what i get out of it. just like i feel most of the pro's get out of it. the good thing about trials is that no pro rider thinks he is too good to be actually around someone less able than themselves. they all accept everyone as they are and have a dead kool and extremly nice personality. they dont get up at each other and never have problems with each other. RESPECT is the key to it i think. if they are shown respect they give it back. Waynio...................

Tony Harrison
PaRtZ I think you'll find that very few riders make their living out of riding trials. Hermance has the obvious advantage that his dad runs Koxx. Ashton and Hawyes obviously found a niche and earned respect by doing things different. Yes, they might not get the best results or do the highest 'taps', but they've got far more out of the sport than a lot of people. It is a shame that there isn't more money in trials - for example Akrigg is as good at trials as Gerrard is at footie, except that Gerrard gets paid about £80,000 per week more than Akrigg. But then again, we choose the sports we like to participate in. I'm sure most people on this forum are either at school or work during the day. Those who do neither are either rich, fully pro (i.e. their bike sponsors pay them enough to survive on) or they're "my parents let me live rent free so I can ride my bike all day" scrounging layabouts. thefletch
Famous rider as you've called them are not exactly gods or anything, who just ride 24/7. Most of them are probly reading this topic rite now. I know that many of the top riders (Savage etc) just do what I do. Eat, sleep, watch TV, college, a bit of work and ride. PaRtZ
OK i think the majority of you have taken my question the wrong way. I only asked what they did because I dont have any direct connections with them. I just dont see why top football players don't have to do much to earn millions, while top riders have to do lots to earn the norm, thats all :) lol
JT!
They probably get slightly less pissed (comps and things). But apart from that, exactly the same.

Obviously david beckham just sits on his arse and watch money fly through the letterbox but trials riders dont get paid as much so I just wondered what they do with their time ← there are more fans of football than trials so there is more money from tv and sponsors this means more money, contacts etc unless there was regular comps on tv it will never even get close to that sort of dough demos is where the money is and there ain't much
