Mr Motivator
Egg beater pedals.. Dyou have to use them with clipless shoes or something? I've never really understood them cause surely your foot is still gonna be all over the place. Sam
butcha87
They just clip into the two of the four arches?I can't see the confusion?Either way, you can't use them for trials! (Y)

Impacted.
Yes they're clipless pedals. If you do try out clipless pedals don't do anything big, because clipless pedals are just as likely to kill you as small pox, the plague, malaria, etc... Twilite
I remember reading about Mr Holroyd riding with SPDs for his first year or so of trials? Don't remember where, anyone else see it? I seem to recall him not thinking it was a good idea, and I'd agree  Not even as a little 'experiment' I don't think!

Chris Cook
I wouldn't even think about using them for trials ! Imagin bailing and not been able to jump off. Your bike would come with you ! :)
iatola says
I've never really understood them cause surely your foot is still gonna be all over the place. ← I run egg beaters (not for trials), they do have a large amount of "float" in them. This is the amount of left and right movement on the pedal before you release from the pedal. Despite the four entry points they are much harder to clip into then my old two sided shimano efforts. I really like they way the clip out though and they fell amazing when riding. Float is really useful in technical XC to manipulate the direction of the bike as opposed to a road cleat which will have next to none. Also with there design you get zero mud clog in the winter. Thumbs up all round, Trev p.s. check out the "triple ti" model at £280, uber light

In theory, when you bail, you could teach yourself to just bend your feet inwards, or outwards, or however you release them, and jump off. Obviously, it could never work because of the different angles you fall off, but i would love it for front wheel gaps, as you just slideeeeeeee of the peddle most of the time, and land right on the toptube on your gooch. Basically, don't try and use them for trials, its more effort then its worth.
