MikeWarner
I'm looking to buy a new stem, bars, seatpost and possibly forks. Are Gusset items any good? I've never heard of them myself, so don't want to end up buying a lemon. Thanks for any advice.
ScotchDave
Gusset stuff always seems to be functional and tough, but not light at all. I'd advise a raceface seat post, a set of the gusset forks, a trials bar and stem, such as the onza stems and a set of pazzaz bars, but also the echo stuff is worth a look and theres nowt wrong with a set of easton riser bars. AdamR28
Gusset stuff is more aimed at the 'heavy duty' end of the market, and most of the parts you've mentioned (bars, stems, forks) aren't particularly trials-specific. Its dependable kit at a decent price though.

MikeWarner
What length and rise of stem should I be looking at? Also, what rise bars should I get? I'm about 5'9" tall.
Caleb
for stem id go for about 100m reach by 10 deg rise bars as wide as possible and 2.5" rise for risers that is , id gor for an easton Ea 50 stem., and a pair of azonic single wall bars. dave33
azonic bars iv had a pair for around 5 years used them for all sorts B) but you would probly be better off going for some trials bars have a look on tarty bikes, look at the bars and stems, that way your bike will be more suited to trials and you will find most moves easyer
tipsy Jock
Onza carbon risers, stem of your choice, quite short though for that frame. No need for a seat post, whack in a mini seat B) Oh and maybe some urbans for fork duties? Pete
MikeWarner
Where can I buy Onza stuff online? I have tried www.trailsshop.co.uk but the bars and stem pages doesn't seem to work. Cheers.
Brian Bleech
both tartybikes andsupercycles deal in onza stuff! mike
ScotchDave
Also be careful to make sure that the bar and stem you buy will be compatible.
the666ers
Hey Mike I think you'd be better off looking at Race Face components, Azonic, Thomson, Easton and that sort of thing. Gusset stuff is definitely aimed at the very heavy duty end of the market, I have their 3 piece cranks on my street bike. On the stem side of things I'd recommend completely the Race Face Deus stem Available here In 100mmx 15degree rise. This is the best option in my opinion as it gives you stability on the backwheel but you can still bunny hop and manual with relative ease which is massively affected by stem choice. For the handlebars look at the race face line up again, and find something that will fit your budget, another brand to look at are Answer who are well known for their Pro Taper (taperwalled tubing inside) Motorcross bars which are solid and light. You can find these here. Most people i think will recommend the Easton bars, EA50's or EA70's are the ones to go for B). On the rise side of things 2 inches is usually about right. Make sure that you get all of the above in the standard 25.4mm clamp size otherwise they won't be compatible. Fairly recently manufacturers have brought out 31.8 clamp diameter which is what most flat trials bars use (Onza, Pazzaz, Monty etc) On the forks side of things it's a hard choice, as far as I know you're going for the Hans Rey frame which the geometry will be designed to run a long sus fork on. Based on this you should probably go for some sort of suspension fork because rigid's will mess up the handling by tightening the headtube angle and lowering the bb. THESE will probably be spot on as you can very easily change the travel down to 80mm or wind it up to 120 if you wish. Personally Id run a seat, It'll just look gay on that bike otherwise and it's always nice to have a perch to sit down on rather than a piece of plastic. I'm assuming the seat tube diameter is 27.2mm on the frame so any micro adjust post and a nice XC saddle will do nicely. Any other questions just shout. Brian Bleech
Is the Hans Rey frame designed for a long travel fork? or maybe more of a mid travel fork. The suspension adjusted rigid fork like the Planet X Superlight 420mm fork would work well! and Answer Pro Taper = Easton EA70 mike
the666ers
I just meant a long fork as in longer than a standard rigid fork :( James
