New design from marc caisso (Found On OTN) I think it looks alright but it looks heavy, also he's using a rear disk, cant be as bad as everyone makes out if it's holding on some of the stuff he pulls off >_< im not too sure if he rides for koxx anymore either as this frame is a scorpa, but it's definately his, also there is no rim brake mounts, so looks like he had no intention of using a magura

Yea been reading up on it and the apparently koxx and scorpa are kind of connected or work very closely, the frame is still designed by koxx just has a scorpa logo on it, and he's still in the koxx team

its completely kitted out with try all bits though so that would indicate he does still ride/get sponsored by them...

Not neccesarily tom, Chris doney uses try all parts yet isn't sponsered by them. Is just that companies like Revell and Scorpa don't make many components. All is explained >_<

What are people's opinions on the rear disk? lots of riders seem to be changing to them now, Ot PI, Dani Comas, Cesar Canas & now Marc Caisso wonder if these will be on alot of bikes in the near future?

It looks similar to the Vario frame design. Like it was said above...it does look heavy, but it wont be >_< Koxx + heavy = error 1 :-

I reckon it'll ride rigid (looking at the design), but still be light-weight.

not sure about the disks though. (Y) >_< good for natural and comps, but not for your street comp style rider, if you get what i mean.

Isnt that a frame from scorpa? A french motor trials brand..I think they worked with koxx before making that bike with the engine >_<

Read the thread on OTN for information, rather than guesses...

Not sure how something can look heavy?

It could be made of foil for all you could tell...

The paint makes it look rather cheap, but other than that i like it.

Good to see a UCI style frame that's suited to the shorter rider >_<

It will ride well.

The Hope brake seems to be working out for everyone else, sounds like the logical thing i guess.

Also means you can run an Avid on there if you so wish, without raping the disk mount.

As long as it works, who cares...

When Marc rode for Megamo he shy'd away from the twin disc frames. But as far as I can remember it was because of the geometry difference between that an the Radical, an not because of the disc itself (I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong)

Plenty of people have tried an gone back to HS rim brakes, because as till now there hasnt really been a good rear disc for a trials bike. Mainly because of the backwards force trials puts on a disc, but DH an XC only put forward force on it.

We will soon see if he stays with it or goes back to HS rims brakes!

Frame looks radical,a few of the koxx frames now are going pretty technical.Abit like the vario frame,suely the more tubes there are the more chance there is of them braking? But i do like the way it looks.Different in a way.

Ive tried a back disk on my freinds bike ( well when he had it on ) and to be honest it was pretty dier he soon went back to a hs33.They dont seem to hold well on edges as well as hs33s in my opinion for suited to manuals etc.Seems as though alot of the bikes are going to back disc now though.Especially the montys,least you dont have to grind away at your rims all the time with a disc,and the pads last forever,as will your rims without grinding the shit out of them.

I am fairly sure that the twin disk Megamo mod bike had a longer rear end/shorter front end when compared to the Megamo Radical mod frame.

I would imagine its the same with the 26" equivilants.

Shame about the hubs and frames >_< Oh, and brake feel...

Anyhoo, looks a bit over-built, really. I guess it's probably Hella stiff, but it looks a bit...over-done, basically. More tubes should mean more strength 'cos there's more area to take the force and more weld contact area, but still, that does kinda take the piss, as do the ankle-jabbing (looking) hose guide. Is Marc left foot forward by any chance?

Hmmm...interesting design , if unneccesarily overengineered , then given a cheapo paintjob .

My problem with rear discs for trials is that most disc brakes are awesome at decelaration , but we require lock , preventing the wheel from moving entirely , forward or back . That said , Caisso's a Goddamned talented rider , I suspect if you're smooth enough , you CAN run a disc .

Do they use 185's ont rear, if they do im interested as to how well they work?

When Caisso appeared at the Bike Show he was on the twin disc but he actually rode the Radical to win the worlds just before that. The twin disc frame had a slightly longer looking back end, from what I remember, and a well higher bottom bracket.

Looks pretty interesting, though the twin top tube design does look like something Leeson coughed up a few years back as a one off, meh.

The thing I find with rear discs in comparison to maguras, is that to make the maggie work well, you have to get really special pads, or grind your rims which after a while starts to severely rape them, or really carefully apply tar to the rim surface, which more often than not sticks to the inside of your pocket and is bastardly annoying. If you pour a pint of water over an avid mechanical, front or rear, it locks up as hard as a magura. Go to a comp when its raining, the discs will just work better and better.

I used to run the avid mechanicals front and rear and I'm going back to them soon (3 weeks, roughly...), and as far as I could see the only problem was if you back wheel something, and then come back off it (I think BMXers call this a blunt), the force you put on the disc tabs is obscene, and leads to snappage.

Nice frame though, should be interesting to see how it rides.

there is a reason people dont use rear discs and purely in this country is due to the climate not being high enough, when a disc is warm and say the climate quite hot it will then work extremly well. how many people in this country have monty with front and rear discs????and being honest actually work?????i dont think there will be many, put them on a 26" frame and with the extra leverage it never going to work aswell. people may disagree but discs perform better under more heat. im sure that is a fact, i read about motorbike and F1 brakes that the hotter they are the better they will brake.

as for the frame, its different lets see how many people copy it..................

then it might become a good/nice frame to some people when most companies are copying it...............hahahaha

also just one other thing take into consideration the size and possible weight of Marc Caisso, hes like me small and quite light, and in hot conditions a disc will work, put someone like Marc Vinco on it and it would be a different story a big guy with a big load aint going to stop that well.

Waynio your completly right about discs working in hot temperatures, I was in the french alps a few summers back and the discs on my XC bike were working better than ever and i've never known why until now (Y)

If it doesnt have 4-bolt magura bosses/ v-brake bosses i reckon it will fail to sell quite alot, due to ALOT of Uk riders swearing by their lovely Magura :blink: :'(

Like Waynio said, disks are good, but no good in the uk. But their might be a possibility of ebc red pads, or a 205mm avid mechanical, that colud help solve it?

glad to see some people like using rear discs! i like mine, the only problem i sometimes have is the dry condtions sometimes glaze the pads up so i have to keep aplying mud to them to get them roughend up, but its very strange becasue my old mini never needed this, but this is very rarely this happens. :blink:
