Just go and ride with your brake like that for a lot longer and it should get better or you'll get used to it :) ← Nah, i don't want to have to get used to it. I want my tyre to slip befor my brake does. JT if you want a good brake, stop pissing about saying you'll wait to go on someone elses grind...just set your brake up properly! You couldve set your brake up perfectly and have a great brake in the time youve spent typing crap in this post ← I have set it up proporly, i set it up best i could with my heatsinks, went for a quick ride about and a quarter of the pad had gone. And had really shit braking.
JIX
You have been told by every one that you have probally done some thing wrong. From my screen it is very hard to tell what it is. You can either listen to the people that are trying to help you and persevre (sp?) with a grind trying different cutting disc, methods of grinding, try doing the things people have suggested. You can keep using your tar as you seem happy using it, so to me that seems like your best bet as you seem unwilling to give a grind (which most people choose over tar for good reasons) a chance. In summary, JT use tar.

But like i said befor, i'm not just giving up on a grind, it just that i don't want to put loads of effort (and money) into something that might actulay not be better than using tar. Untill i have ago on someone elses bikes that has a good grind on that i would be happy with, i'm not going to bother.

Gaz M
If your using the new style super wide Try-All rim there's your problem  there too soft for most brake pads to work any good on them, get intouch with fatmike and get some coust pads, put the coust pads on, regrind your rim and it'll be the best brake you've ever felt :'(

Gaz M
yeah, you'd think that but really it makes such a huge difference, just get some coust pads, and regrind your rim, trust me you wont regret it, my friend did the same and his brake was immense

Bionic Balls
stone me down JT!....new pads make a difference (a big one btw). :'( apparently, especially coust pads (i've not tried them personally)...but from reviews on here they are "le nuts", and the squeak of rob poyser's brake is silly  adam PS: how did this get 5 pages long! Dai the Socket
You'll of ground it all off, rather than notches. Don't you have any trials mates who know how to grind a rim properly? Burton
I'm not buying some more pads, i'v got some heatsinks, but i put them on and they wern't anything special. ← Heatsink pads are pretty crap if theyre the White uns  They have minimal squeek and hold. A rather poor pad :'( Try-all rims do grind fairly good (Y) They last a decent amount of time, only need re-grinding every 2 months o so. Your best bet is to use Koxx Yellows, dont go anywhere near RimJam Greens on a grind from my experiances :- I know new good pads do cost alot of money, but look at it as a good investment :P Hope it helps you jt!
