Motor Trials

hey reading in the other post that a lot of the motor trials stars came from 'cyclo trials' back grounds and hawzy and ashton used to use it for training then used their motor bikes to train for bike trial, so im just thinking what are your thoughts on it will it improve your riding? ive been thinking it will make you a stronger rider stregth wise. as the bikes weigh around 70kg for a newish one. so hopping this round is obviously harder than a bike. thanks colly

I REALLY want a morotrials bike, they look soo fun, but theres no way I can afford one, which is why I get annoyed (jelouse?) when I see little rich kids on smart new bikes with no scatches on at all just going up and down small slopes on them, and the fact their parents bought the bikes for them!

I will have one though...................... someday

Been doing Motor trials (I hate saying that  ) about 5 years and cycle trials (thats sounds even gayer (Y) ) about 4

I would say that cycle trials has helped my motor trials more than the other way round. Although I do seem to have good staminer on the push bike which could be due to the motorbike??

One big thing though that i've got from motor trials is tactical dabbing and using my dabs, I see a lot of people rushing to get there feet back on the pedals after they dab and thus causing more problems. I take it a bit slower and us my dabs like I would on the motorbikes and I think this has helped a lot.

On the other side I get a lot of good techniques from the bicycles to use on the motobike and am now just mastering 'crank hops' on a motorbike ;)

My conclusion if you want to get into motobike trials and can afford it do ti because it's a right laugh and both disciplines go hand in hand with helping each other (Y)

Just for you Ali " me on my shiny bike but I did pay for it myself.

since ive started ive found my confidence has grown a lot, and cycle trials has helped hopping the bike, and getting up steps, but motor trials has helped my front bumps, and like matt says tactical dabs, and a lot on rocks as it helps you know where grip is etc...

motor trials had definatly helped me in pedal trials.

i went motor trialing in the morning and i was throwing around my sherco 290 beast 2000 model so its a heffer. jumped on my pedal trials bike and it felt like nothing. everything felt easier and more controlled. it deffo helps.

if you can save up for a bike get one. so much fun. even if its just little hills. i just got to the stage where i can bunny hop up a foot or so. it sounds gay but it well hard.

get one.

They complement each other... but if you look at the last 10 years of motorcycle world championships you will notice that many of the top riders have also been champions in cycletrials. The trick riding used these days in the sections at the top level can be directly compared to the back hop cycletrials techniques...

I am about to become 40 and may be getting back into cycletrials to keep fit... I have a 300 gasgas for my main play toy!!
