Connor
Hey people my rimjam backing broke yesterday as i was gapping the clip broke well not completely. Well because of this i put the broken rimjam green on the front and took the standard black and put it on the rear, to be onist its the best my brake has ever felt its was powerful and realy smooth and locked realy well, plus i was running a smooth rim with nothing added i.e tar OR nothing i dont know why this is. WHAT A COMBERNATION :'(

JT!
If your using a standard black maggie pad, and a green rimjam, your expectations of a good brake are extreamly low.
Mark W
I just wouldn't have any faith in Magura blacks for trials. We had a Da-Bomb in our shop with black pads, and you could make the brake slip by locking both on and pressing down on the pedals. With ceramic rims, maybe (Although maybe the dedicated Magura greenfrog (I think it's "green frog" anyway :'() ceramic pads might be better?), but...hmm. I know Rowan Johns used* to use them, but like I say - *I* wouldn't trust them... *Note: USED to
Connor
i dont know why it feels so sharp probly some tar from the o ld tar i had on the rim left on the rimjam pad :'("
Bionic Balls
i'm using one blue rimjam and one brown koxx and it's not bad....better than both rimjams anyway :-" adam
Fishwog
i'm using one blue rimjam and one brown koxx and it's not bad....better than both rimjams anyway " adam ← Then surely if you put the other brown koxx bloxx pad on it will be even better.....? :-
Bionic Balls
the other one ripped out...hence i bought rimjams.... :- adam

Im running Mavic ceramic rims front and rear with black pads on maguras and braking is powerful, bitey, smooth and holds well. I will have a new video out soon that will be with black pads only to testify to the power of the blacks!
Mark W
That's cool Ben. But yeah, if you wanna try out those Magura ceramic-specific pads, I've got some here you could try?
AdamR28
Theyre pretty poor to be honest, very hard wearing, meant for XC bikes. My mate used to run a front ceramic rim, tried them, and went straight back to Kool Stops.
Bendee
probably because the black pads are better than the rim jams. ive felt a few rim jams and all have been shite i had a set of black pads on a silver rim and they where better. Dan Clark
Oli (cant ride) runs blacks on a silver rim, and the stuff he does is mahoosive. Doesn't use tar either, or a grind. Fuck knows how, we were actually discussing it the other night.
James_Porter
I shall be running black pads on a clean rim...woo yeah ← you want tar with that. nah, they are ok for like smaller stuff cause they do hold, ie techy blah blah stuff. but not for drop gaps to rails or something which puts a violent amount of pressure on them (i dunno if thats the right way of putting it but im to tired to care.) i would use them on a 24 though...or for propper flowy street Edited June 17, 2005 by James_Porter
Enigma
well i using black pads on my rear break and i have to use two finger to lock them up complelty is that cuz of the pads ?
Luke Drewery
Didnt rowan johns run black pads on a smooth rim? He went huge too, he could touchhop twice bar height from what i saw in his videos :shifty: I have decided that i prefer to use a smooth rim with a little tar (probably cheap and cheerful koolstop pads too) rather than the setup that i have now, zoo pads on a ground rim. Theres no modulation at all :shifty: Edited June 18, 2005 by scunnytrials
rich4130
I'm gonna run the new koolstops on a clean rim, be well good im thinking, plaz and a grind just are no good for manuals.. Anodised rims work better with shit pads, my aircorp was ok with blacks, used to hold fine, and the brake had been setup by a gimp, a v was great with PX sticky pads haha.
